    Unreal Tournament 3

So...I'm new to the forums and figured since no else threw it out there or my inablility to use the search function properly....

Unreal Tournament 3 doesn't work right out of the box with Windows 7

I have yet to try it in Vista Compatibility mode or XP so I'll be giving those a try here shortly.

Issues with 7 and UT3 I've come across are:

    Menus before gameplay

Disappear, literally. Unable to make selections at all.

    When game starts:
After about 10 - 15 seconds the game halts.

Ah...here we go...the reinstall of UT3 just finished....wish me luck.

My copy of UT3 works perfectly fine out of the box with no mods/compatibility or anything. All I did was insert and install and it ran without any problems.

Also just a heads up if u havent played UT3 in a while the game is practically dead. Only has about 30 total severs running and that is adding in every server from every game type.

Yeah I noticed, lol. As far as actually playing though...no luck for me...I'm assuming windows 7 doesn't like ATi right now? It could be the drivers though...I updated 2 nights ago to the latest version availble on windows update and it made my PC very unstable. I'm using cat driver 8.11 and the system runs fine unless I play UT3.

Ok... That is probably it because I use a GeForce 9800GT... So it is most likely a driver conflict with ATI and UT3.

UT3 works fine out of the box on my system (with nvidia 7900GS). It seems to be running smoother, at first I thought it was only due to the OS installation being fresh, but I have to say it's pretty smooth given the weak video card im using. Will post again with some numbers after a vista 64 and 7 64 re-installation.

Unfortunately, I was dumb enough to buy my copy off of Steam.

I have Windows 7 x64 and receive a Visual C++ Runtime Error every time I try to launch the game.
The little 'shield' icon, the one that runs the app as administrator, is on the icon for UT3...
I've turned off that setting though, for when it first crashed I thought that could've been the problem.

Either way, it doesn't make a difference. I can't get past the splash screen.

Anyone got it working on x64?

Thats pretty sad, considering that there are still many servers for ut04, 5 yr old game. I believe why ut3 has deminished is the time it has released, and the need for a good video card to run this game as wel as 04 ran.

Which by the way ut04 works great on win7, no comp mode on install or play... just "right outta the box" for me
