Problems trying to play SWTOR, NTdll.dll failing/faulting
Hello my fellow forum goers,
I am starting this topic in the hopes of getting some help with an issue that has plagued me for the last week or so.
Essentially I have been suffering from an issue with the game SWTOR where once I click the play button on the launcher it will load up the loading screen (the one with the jedi and malgus etc in it) and then proceed to just disappear entirely without any error message at all.
During this time I have noticed the process werfault.exe appears on the client start up but this quickly disappears along with the swtor.exe process when it “crashes to desktop”. Is there a way of finding out if an error is actually being recorded by windows (werfault.exe) or not as I would like to know if I could determine a cause of this issue?
I had contacted Bioware support regarding this issue and they noted that Ntdll.dll was failing and was the suspected source of this problem from their perspective. In order to attempt work around they had me re-download and install the “Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package” to which nothing had changed afterwards regarding the client crashing. I then opened up msconfig and set it so that “load startup items” was disabled (unchecked), rebooted and tried again to start the game with no success.
I then set about scanning my DLL files via SFC Scannow and it has not detected any file corruption and says all those files are fine.
For the sake of completeness in terms of antivirus software I have only used AVG so far on this computer (as best I can remember) and Malwarebytes as they have often covered other problems I have had.
The next lot of information is taken from the services tab in msconfig with Microsoft Processes hidden. This reads Service/Manufacturer/Status/Date disabled:
