frequent switching between game & desktop

Would more RAM be beneficial when doing this? It seems I am only able to do this once or twice and then it won't switch at all and it'll just stay on the game or it locks up. I currently have 4G of RAM. My specs are listed.

Upgrading RAM is always a good option for overall performance but if you mean switching from game to desktop and vice versa by Alt+Tab than i think it won't fix this problem coz as far as i remember it depends on different games for example when i used to play GTA:SA i was able to switch to destop and desktop as many times as i wanted but on some other game i was only able to switch a 1 or 2 times than i had to close the application manually. So some games does support and some don't so upgrading RAM for only this might not help! :) the rest up to you.

I bring this up since I started playing COD: MW3 MP I've needed to access email right away I needed to end the game. It's kind of odd I am able to switch many times while in the menu, but in game even when paused it won't let me do it at all. I was just wondering about this, it's not a big deal. Thanks guys.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but if you are in the middle of a game, why would you need to be going back to your desktop that often?

think mw3 doesn't let you on purpose so you don't try to death evade, that's my educational guess

I'm waiting on job interviews. I get calls in the morning from temp agencies telling me they sent me an email for me to give them info.

I do that a lot too. Thanks to the information overload we live in, I regularly bail out on what I'm playing just to look at my mailbox/db/chat/whateverdingle. Heck, it's gotten to be such a habit that I immediately get annoyed with any game that doesn't sport a pause feature - although this usually isn't a problem since I avoid multiplayer and online games like the plague; everything else almost always has some way of pausing the action.

How would tabbing out help you evade dying in a game? Either the game auto-pauses, so when you tab back in you'll still get killed, or the game runs in the background when you tab out, so you'll still die but you just don't see it and when you tab back in you'll be staring at a game over screen.

He's referring to the multiplayer that you avoid. Also doesn't make much sense for that to be the reason as if you did alt tab out, you would either be left standing still and get killed anyway, or it would cause your character to suicide.

I don't see how memory would help with this. Given the reasons, I'd either save my gaming for night time, or I'd set up a laptop next to me to handle the e-mail and job searching.
