Portal in 3d

Hey i found a little setting on my old 8800 gts that i didn't know was there

It was for 3d

Being curios i enabled it.

Than i lunched portal The depth was good but i killed my framerates. The collar was also significantly reduced....but the depth was good lol

Then a decided to play around a little bit with portal 2 in 3d. The collar was much better depth was good and framerates were acceptable.

Is there anyway to perfect my settings because i also noticed that 3d still leaves a small amount to be desired. For example if you look at the photos i uploaded you will see little bites of ghosting

For the entertainment factor here are the 3d photos :) i will probably upload some more later

3d vision has been standard on all nvidia cards since... surprise the 8800 models.
my gtx580 does the same thing and so should just about any model in between.
You really need the nvidia glasses and a 120hz monitor to use it properly.
Outside of that if you don't have said monitor I wouldn't suggest running that mode anymore, it may cause damage to the monitor.

p.s. another interesting note, the 8800's were also the first cards that shipped with true physx support.

I am not useing the 120hz 3d mode i am using the old red blue glasses mode it had an option for that.

do they both use the 120hz or something?

I don't think they should red/blue has been out long before 120hz stuff

Is there a program that will test the hz that my card is trying to push so i my do research into this?

Edit : i looked at my settings and it says it is set at 60hz if that means anything lol it still might be trying to push 120hz though i seriously doubt it ill keep looking

my bad that is the older method of stereoscopy, no you are fine using that one. The new methods all depend on alternating frames in what I guess you could call two channels at 60hz each, requiring a 120hz monitor to display correctly.
I jumped the gun on that one.
Too be perfectly honest I kind of skipped over the blurry 3d pictures.

Here are some more pictures of me playing around with the 3d some more hopefully they are a little less blury

sadly the portal F5 snapshot dosent work in 3d mode i had to get the photos some other way.

still haven't got the collars quite right
