If you have Realtek integrated sound, then download the latest driver for your sound directly from Realteck. I had the same problem on my laptop. After installing the new driver with Windows 7 Ult 64bit, BF1 and BF2 work just fine with sound.

Try this link for the High Definition Audio Codecs (Software)

I looked at the original specs on Dell's site. It's Sigmatel Audio...

Oh well, on my end I at least have my wife's computer that can run it.

I have sound thanks to forester on lucas arts support forum

    Windows 7 Fix.

Right Click on the sound icon in the quickbar.

Go to recording devices and left click.

Right click anywhere in the main box and check show disable devices.

    Enable stero mix

Your game should work with sound now.

Well after looking at a few sites that report the same issue the problem is definitly with the audio devices in Windows 7.

In order to get the game to work you can do either two things (I have tried one of them)
1- Disable your sound devices (Playback) which is found in the control panel under sound. That I have tried and it works. Both single and multiplayer is working. The problem now is that you have no sound to play which sucks. Might as well not play at all imo.
2- Plug your speakers in the mic input ofyour sound card. In the end you will get the same result.

So, now that this is established (and this has been going on for a long time folks) its finding ways to bring sound to your game.

On my end I have two devices: Speakers and Digital Audio (S/PDIF). I tried disabling one at a time and it still didn't work. The main one is your core audio that comes out of the Speakers. If I take Digital Audio (S/PDIF) as default and take out speakers I still get no sound anyways.

    Any suggestions?
im not sure what he means, i went to ctrl panel, and i didnt see any disable functions plzz help

This worked perfectly for me. My system is Windows 7 x64 with Realtek audio and BF2 v1.0

    1. Download and install Realtek audio drivers here: Realtek
    2. Go to Sound in Control Panel, go to the Recording tab, right-click and check "Show disabled devices"
    3. RIght-click on "Stereo Mix" and ENABLE it.
    4. Run Battlefront 2 with audio and no crash.

    Thanks to everyone here.

Hey does anyone know how to properly host your own private game or a public game for that matter? Both LAN and Internet.
I have the PC Dedicated Server, Hamachi (for LAN), and made my accounts on xfire and gamespy, but none of them work. Every time I try to log into gamespy through the game, it exits to my desktop. Same when I just go straight to "create" and launch. It begins to launch and again it exists!
Does anyone know how to fix this??

    I have found the answer!!

AFTER YEARS OF RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER!!
What you have to do have something plugged in the mic input and you might have to plug your speaker jack into the headphone input if this doesn't work then put whatever into the mic output. If you have any problems or confused cuz this is kinda confusing too, look me up on facebook, my email is junebug0924@yahoo.com but i can't acess yahoo for a while.

    Sooooo good luck!!
I'm gonna go play Star Wars Battlefront II............. WITH SOUND!!!!!!
