I am not really aware of any significant difference between the free and pay versions of the game at this point.
Extra backpack slots, free hat for upgrading and unlimited trading.

I got all that during christmas with out even trying plus a bunch of cole lumps thank God there gone now hahaha

It works but isn't smooth. Graphics card is ATI 4870 and I have the latest driver but it seems choppy. It may be the network code. My ping is typically 20 and now 40, which is low. I had some of this early in Vista and it was mostly the video card drivers which they did fix.
