Medal of Honor: Allied Assault crashes to the desktop

I'm on a FPS binge lately, yet Allied Assault will not work at all. Battlefield 1942, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, MoH Airborne, and CoD1 and its United Offensive expansion pack all work perfectly. Allied Assault on the other hand simply crashes the moment I click on it.

The screen will go black and simply say "Medal of Honor Allied Assault(TM) has stopped working." I have to use ctrl alt delete to close the error message. I've experimented with all the compatibility modes with no luck. I've installed all the patches as well- again, no luck. Its expansion packs will not work either, and all do the same crash and give the same error message. I've done two clean uninstallations and wiped its presence from the registry with no success. When I access the files, everything is normal. There are no missing paks.

Like I said, all other games from this time and even MoH Airborne work perfectly. Only Allied Assault crashes.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I did played Allied Assault a couple of months ago with no problems... I was on Ultimate 64 bit but I doubt it makes a difference?

Perhaps it is time to uninstall/install a fresh version of your video and audio drivers... if only to make sure that you have crossed all dots?

    Sorry, can't help you more!

    Hello beingthehero,
Have you tried to disable desktop composition under compatibility?

I see you have tried running the game in all of the compatiblity modes. You could maybe try re-installing although this time install as admin/compatibility SP3.

Also, maybe mess around with the config settings. I think it's in MOHAA/main/config

I have exactly the same OS and game as you. Have you:
    Done all windows updates?
    Run it in compatibility mode?
Patched the game to the latest version?
    Run it as an administrator?
Try these. The game can be patched in the multiplayer menu if you can't find online downloads.

Edit: Also, please fill in your system specs so we may help you better.

If you have an AMD/ATI based videocard, you'll need an old version of the opengl driver and put it into the game folder.

I don't think this is the problem- I had an ATI card and it worked fine. It still works with my NVidia.

It is kind of error caused by drive missing or game file corrupt. How about reinstalling it?

If you haven't already tried this, then do, but otherwise all signs point to a faulty disc. That wouldn't be surprising, it is an old game. You can pick up a copy for about £2.99 new on Amazon.

Also, please fill in your system spec. Like I said, I have exactly the same OS and Windows spec as you, so it must be your copy. I even made a gameplay video on youtube of it quite recently here.

Sorry about the gross delay in replying. The game still crashes to the desktop. I don't think it's the disk; the Spearhead and Breakthrough expansion packs also crash to the desktop. Same thing happened when I downloaded the single player demo. Call of Duty 2 and MoH Airborne run perfectly and smoothly, yet Allied Assault just won't work.

    Here are my specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack (7601.win7sp1_gdr.111118-2330)
    System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
    System Model: Inspiron N5110
    BIOS: BIOS Date: 07/18/11 15:25:00 Ver: 04.06.04
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2330M CPU @ 2.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
    Memory: 4096MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 4004MB RAM
Page File: 2731MB used, 5273MB available
    DirectX Version: DirectX 11
    DX Setup Parameters: None
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
    DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
    DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode

I've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling multiple times, even deleting the registry keys. Same crash always happens. Each time I installed it, all the files looked to be in order.

Do you have a another pc that can possibly be running windows xp and try installing it and running it on that and see what happens. If it's the same thing then it's the disk and you then need a new disk. Just saying to try it on xp because it could be that it's not compatible or true proof that it is in deed a corrupted disk. Well that's if you have xp but if you don't then my other thought is that the cd is no good anymore and you need a new one or it's not compatible with win 7 x64.
