    All games stop working

So I've got a new reasonable laptop with 2gb GeForce videocard, 8Gb RAM, i5 turbo.. but it won't play any games!

It started just fine, I installed a few games for my siblings, some of them old (Sims 2, Harry Potter games and such..) that worked just fine. Suddenly they stopped working one by one, and I haven't been able to figure out why.

Now I just installed Saints Row the Third and I get the same problem. Any idea what it might be? I looked for threads with similar problems but nothing.

I had a similar problem. Look in the bios for an option for interchangeable graphics (Most computers with intel HD graphics have the option) and make sure it is selected to Windows Vista or 7. If it says hybrid or something like that change it to a different option. Once done check Device Manager for your graphics card assuming you know the name of it. Hope it works.

I've been on holiday, just got back yesterday.

The problem persists, "The application has crashed. The application will now terminate." pops up when I try to run Sims 2 on the computer. It's usually just messages like that one, no special error message.

I couldn't find that option in bios. My graphic card shows fine in Device Manager, is up to date.

Try right clicking the games icon and select troubleshoot compatibilty. Win will try different settings and if it works will let you decide to apply them for always.

Having just checked on EA's forums I can vouch for this being a reasonable solution.
Probably the same with many older games.

I have already tried that. I have tried every mode there is! I did try it again just now, but it's the same.
I have also tried to install new games (made for win7) but I also have problems with those.

I don't know if it's related, but iTunes keeps freezing as well. I seem to be unable to update it..
