Age of Empires CD will not show up on computer.

I have just bought a used copy of Age of Empires 3, but when I put the Cd in my disk drive, nothing happens and I get no messages of any sort. I have A windows 7 laptop in good working order, and with the requirements to play the game. Can any one tell me if a game disk can become damaged enough that it won't play, or is there some other problem?

Perhaps you've been had? Xeno, There may not be any data on the CD. Where did you get it from? Do other games work on your computer? It may be hard to do, but sometimes you can tell the difference between a written CD and unwritten one by looking at the back. Compare it to another game CD and see if there is a difference.

Is it just not auto-loading, or is it not being recognized altogether?

And yes, I'd definitely say discs can get so badly damaged they won't be readable anymore, I've had a few friends that I let borrow games of mine in the past . . .

Happened to me for a while, found a fix on the web somewhere. Try searching the error and see what that turns up :)

He said he doesn't get any errors when trying to run it from the CD.
