Windows 7: Series of weird events, now some of my games are acting weird

Series of weird events, now some of my games are acting weird

Hey guys, so last Saturday which was the 17th March i turned my computer on, after startup it hanged at the desktop screen, characteristics:
- Desktop Icons don't show
- When i hover my cursor above the taskbar it turns up as the blue loading circle
- Clock does not function
- Nothing responds to clicks

I immediately put a blame on me as the last time I shut my PC down, I accidentally turned off the power switch while the PC was still showing the "logging off" screen. Then I managed to get it to shut down properly but to no avail.

I tried a solution online which is to boot into safe mode, open msconfig and turn off a few startup programs. After a restart it worked, the desktop showed up quick and everything was back in order-until I started my Battlefield 3 and my bro started his TF2. Battlefield 3 was much much lagger than before( I'll post my system specs below for reference) and so is TF2. So I lived with it for a while.

The next day I had to leave for holiday for 3 days. 3 days later my bro said his Team Fortress 2 was back to normal, exactly the way it was, but not my Battlefield 3, unfortunately it still lags like that day and so I tried my newly installed AC: Revelations. That didn't work either, no matter what resolution I set, it will lag and be around 15 fps, and the characters will not be smooth(as in when they walk they blink front and back frequently). I used to be able to play my AC2 and ACB maxed out with 40+ fps, even now it is the same, 40+fps.

So today I went to try the BF3 campaign, same thing, extreme lag, most of the time it's at 4fps and jumps till 40+fps for a few seconds then jumps back.

Next, we have MINECRAFT. I play the Minecraft for free version on the internet and surprisingly it started lagging after that day. Before that it was smooth, very smooth in fact, but now even with settings lowered there's quite alot of lag.

And then Crysis 2, usually I'm able to play at 40+fps, just now I played it at it got slashed to 25-30fps only..

I tried my luck to see if I can restore my computer and I found something, it seems that a restore point was created the day or the week before(sorry I couldn't remember :/). It was created due to the installation of some Directx stuff. I can't give any detailed information because just when I wanted to recover my system to that time, the restore point disappeared.

So guys what do you think? Is the game the culprit? Is my hardware the culprit? What should I do now? Sorry I had to write such a long story but it's been sometime since I wrote long stuff on the net.. ._.

Oh yeah, here's my specs
AMD Athlon II X2 4400e 2.7GHz | ASRock N68-S3 UCC | 2GB DDR3 1600 | Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | 500GB Seagate | AMD Radeon HD6770 | 22" LEXIN LED

Yes the specs is low end but I managed with it. For BF3 I play 1680x1050 Medium settings with fps hovering around 30 on 64 player servers, but after that day it cut to half, becoming unbearable for me..

Thanks for your time
