Games won't work on Windows 8

I've tried 3 games so far. Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs doesn't work but Botanicula does. Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs are complaining for missing .dll files but I doubt that Windows 7 optimized .dll files will solve the issue.

The games' setup were run on Windows 7 targeted to an external drive, and I'm trying to use the same drive with the Windows 7 games installed on Windows 8 right now. So do I have to reinstall them on Windows 8?

Note that the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode for the .exe files didn't work.
    Thanks in advance.

    Most likely. Try it.

But Max Payne 3 takes up 26 GB. So I will have wasted 52 GB for twice installing it. I can't do that for each game until I've filled up an entire TB with twice installed games. Is there another workaround?

You didn`t say you installed them on W8. In fact you say you have them installed on an external, correct ?

You even asked ... Do I have to reinstall them on W8 ?

Why would you use up 52 Gbs to install a 26 GB game ????

I'm running from External Drive E:/Program Files behind no shortcuts.

And AddRAM, all I'm saying is that I've run the setup file under Windows 7, so Windows 8 is having a hard time trying to run a program that was meant to run under Windows 7. And I'm dual booting Win 7 and 8. If I remove and reinstall on Windows 8, then the game wouldnt work on Windows 7.

All I want is a single game installation that will operate both on Win 7 and 8.

Well you didn`t say any of that.

Don`t uninstall it from the ex, just install it on 8 to see if it will run. What have you got to loose ? Your trying to figure this out, right ?

Besides, you will soon be getting rid of 8, trust me.

    Good Luck.

Well, there's a little bit of problem at that point.
Since the .iso was 26GB, I most likely had it deleted to clear up some space once installed..
And it will take me another 3 days to redownload it.

And Windows 8 is awesome. The Windows Store and everything... I'm not intending to quit.

    Hello Dorruk,

To get better help with Windows 8 issues, it would be best to post at our sister site Eight Forums instead. :)
