Why I will not buy another wireless mouse for gaming.

The title makes it clear enough I suppose.
More interesting is the actual and final reason I have come to this conclusion.

It could have been battery life, or cost of replacements.
    but it's not.

It could have been that no matter what it would always annoyingly lose connection quality and start behaving like a drunk 9 year old.
    but it's not.

No, for all the frustrations I have suffered at the hands of my wireless mouse it was finally the weight. They're about 4 times heavier than the standard wired mouse I used in the past and am now using once again. In normal use the extra weight feels good and it's not something I was really paying attention too until playing battlefield 3 where I find myself shooting at range a lot more and having to make a lot of tiny corrections on moving targets. In that I have found the wireless mouse to simply not allow as much agility as it's wired counterpart. I will still use the wireless on my alternate computer just because I don't feel like making yet another purchase at this point, all in all though. I'm definitely doing much much better with a simple relatively cheap intellimouse model I think they actually stopped making about 3 years ago. It's simple, works with everything and equally important to me allows me to play with my left handed mouse configuration without complaint (or forcing me to curve my hand in un-natural positions). I've seen a lot of arguments about the new super high dpi mouse and all the love and money it rakes in. At the end of the day though I found the devices to hurt my gaming pulling me from a solidly positive k/d player to a solidly negative one.

I suppose I'm just saying if your wireless 10billion dpi 400 button mouse works for you that's great, I just think you wasted a bunch of money and thanks to the nature of those time vampires a lot of time trying to configure it just right for 10 different games.

..no seriously best of luck to you man, you're going to need it.

I used to have a G7 wireless that I loved, I really did but, battery life was the cause of many a gray hair, even though I had two batteries for it. Well, that and the lost of connectivity for a millisecond at the worse time, right when I had to kill 2 or 3 guys in the blink of an eye )... but I still loved it very much.

I was able to purchase a G9 for very little money, 2 or 3 years ago, paid something like 35 bucks (pre-own) but, to this day, I can not get use to it, sometimes is to fast, sometimes to jerky, sometimes to slow, hard to say what it is but the button line is... I don't enjoy it and I wish I could get another one but, it pains me to spend money on another mouse

Bottom line... Yes, I would go wired instead of wireless but weight is not the culprit for me.

battery and connectivity are probably the most common reasons.
For me it was a matter of function. I don't really care if the mouse has 50 buttons on it, I have a keyboard with with plenty of buttons on it. The mouse just needs to track properly and even first gen opticals can do that, basically anything made after the old ball style mouse went out.
The insane dpi counts seem to be more of a hindrance than a help in gameplay for me though.

I've tried multiple gaming mice made by Razer and to be honest I don't feel the difference. I'm personally using an A4tech mouse with only 1000 dpi and I'm okay with it. I play Warcraft 3 TFT DOTA a lot and it's okay for me.

This the major headache I have with the G9... I can't get comfortable with it enough to make it function as it should. I have never had a bigger issue with a mouse than I have with this G9 but I am afraid to buy another model/brand for fear that I will have the same issue due to the technological advances. I just can't afford to buy a few mouses to test them out.

    Again... we agree

I like it to have a few buttons as I have become accustomed to play my shooters with the help of the mouse. Let me explain

    RB ----- move
    LB ----- Shoot
    LMB ----- Zoom In
    RMB ----- Reload
    Thumb Button ----- Melee

Rest of buttons I want it on the KB.

Exactly, the wire of the G9 is weird and it hinders my movements, I have tried tossing anything and everything that is close to it but, no matter what I do, it just doesn't move ergonomically correct. I still play my shooters but I feel I enjoyed them more with the G7 even when I was having connectivity issues.

That does not bother me anymore, I have managed to figure this out really well, to the point where I know where I want to have it (with a push of a button) SO, if I am browsing the internet I have in color Red (different setting and dpi) and if I am Gaming, I turn it to Green (dpi changes and the buttons are already set for my preference).

What I do love about this G9 is that I don't have to set each game on a profile, I only have to set the buttons to a profile and use that profile inside the game keybinds. I don't know whether this is a software new thing or if the mouse has the capacity to work it out... I am leaning towards a software/mouse mix

I have loved my mouse from day 1 - 'World of Warcraft Cataclysm MMO Gaming Mouse'

Nice big palm fit (which suits me very nice)
    Light Weight
    Nice button placement

Even though i don't game anymore, i can browse my pc from the 14 buttons built in... don't have to move the mouse around

You're sounding a little bit like a trackball fanatic.
...which isn't as strange as it sounds I actually know a few good gamers that use them.

LOL but that mouse doesn't use a trackball

I thought wireless was the way to go but after battery failing during a raid in WOW I opted to get a Logitech MX518, it's quite old but is still a very good mouse.

I should probably take a moment here to note the massive difference between a standard mmo and a fast paced fps game like bf3.

There is a significant difference between needing buttons for 400 different abilities and macros.
And needing to be able to accurately target a long ran fast mover while correcting for bulletdrop over the distance and trying to dance around the two guys shooting at you from the next hill over.

...it's very different and so are the things I would look for in a mouse made for such.

I'm a fast paced fps gamer. I keep trying mmo's but I'll max a character in pretty much no time and just quit afterwards. I honestly don't understand how you guys spend weeks/months grinding out stuff to make a item +2 more powerful. It seems like the ultimate waste of time to me.

Especially when you can be almost guaranteed that an expansion will be released making all that work pretty much meaningless even in game.

ps. whoever came up with the concept of DLC needs to be dragged into the street and publicly humiliated for his stupidity.
