From what I hear there are more hickups in 7048 than in 7000.

And no, me and Angeryman and I forget. Anyways we worked on this problem for over a week trying drivers, fixes, tweaks. Nothing works. Punkbuster refuses to make an update also.

Please refer to the "Punkbuster Thread" for all other ideas, thoughts and so on and so forth.

Im getting this same bunkbuster error for Battlefield 2142 but whats interesting is windows 7 is recording it, heres a example C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\NonCritical_PnkBstrB.exe_65814 d6d14cf2a5e97f3679ef32732b75acdf8a9_08a2d0ba
    with a Report.wer file inside

ive gotten multiple of these, some with file PnkBstrB.exe and some with PnkBstrA.exe. now im going to try just setting these files to run as administer but if that doesent work ill attempt to replace them with a working copy of the files from XP, ill tell ya what happens

I was unable to play BF2 and BF2142 on beta build 7000 and 7100 started messing with it again a few days ago. I was unable to run my games until I did the following below. I hope this works for you guys. I tried everything I could think of to install and run my games. None of the web fixes or work arounds I found worked for me
    1. Place your game disk in your cd/dvd drive once it loads Don't choose the auto install instead open the folder to view the files using windows explorer.
    2. Once the folder opens look for the game's Setup application. Right click on it and choose properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and check Run this program in Compatibility for Windows XP SP3. Also check mark the box for run this program as an administrator. Click Apply then ok.
    3. Now double Click on Setup and install your game.
    4. Once the game installs Click on Compatibility and check Run this program in Compatibility for Windows XP SP3. Also check mark the box for run this program as an administrator Click Apply then ok.
    5. If your patching the game do the same thing again for the patch. Right click on the Setup for the patch and choose properties. Click on Compatibility and check Run this program in Compatibility for Windows XP SP3. Also check mark the box for run this program as an administrator Click Apply then ok. Then double click and install the patch.
    6. Go to Evenbalnce and downloaded the pbsetup. Create a folder on your desktop and name it whatever you want. Once it's extracted do # 2 & 3 again. Right click on pbsetup and choose properties. Click on Compatibility and check Run this program in Compatibility for Windows XP SP3. Also check mark the box for run this program as an administrator Click Apply then ok. Then install PB by double clicking and install the patch.
    7. Once PB loads add your games and upload any new updates for them. Don't do anything else for PB. I didnt !
    8. Try running your games and see what happens. Following these steps is the only way I got my games to work without getting kicked out of the servers with a API error(s) I've been playing for two days now without any problems.

I now will follow this procedure for every thing I will install on my PC while using Windows 7. I had probs installing my bluetooth dongle today until I did the above for the setup application it worked again :)
    Win 7 RC x64 (7100) solution for BF2142 :

    I followed Mdttb's steps, unfortunately, I was kicked after a few seconds/minutes.

I installed all the updates from Windows Update. Still no working.

So I uninstalled the game and reinstall it following again Mdttb's steps, but instead of Windows XP SP3, I checked all my *.exe files "Run this program in Compatibility for Windows Vista" (NO SP1/SP2).

I could play several hours since the last 3 days now, on differents servers, and I am not kicked anymore !!!

    ^

Still, I highly doubt doing EITHER of those "fixes" will actually work. It's all about luck how long you will be able to play in my experience. I also installed XP as a secondary OS for this game so I don't care anymore.

I tried with XP compatibility and it says No-CD. I tried Vista Compatibility and it crashes after the screen switches to full. Anyone else having this problem?

    win 7 and punkbuster

i play bf2142 and bf2 with no problems on win7 rc. With the game running , alt tab out and start task manager, set processes priority for punkbuster b to high, and punkbuster a to above normal. Using this method I have not been kicked off any servers for punkbuster. hope it works for you. (I assume you have your punkbuster updated with pbsetup.exe.)
