    Game crash without a problem

Have not had many problems with 7, as a matter of act its very good but every now and then when shutting down a game for the night and going back to the desktop - "Barney" (thats my name for the guy inside windows seven who comes out to warn me about anything) says (dialogue box) "The game has encountered an error." Despite the fact that nothing bad happened. The game was just ended in the conventional way. This has happened in quite a few games. STEAM is used alot so maybe it has something to do with that. Anyway its no big deal, just thought it should be pointed out. Why does Barney think my game crashed when It just ended normally and by the way Painkiller recurring evil crashes when loading a game but Barney doesnt say anything!

Let's see if we can find out why you are getting that warning/error message.
    • Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
      1. Click Start Menu
      2. Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
      3. Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
      4. Expand Custom Views
      5. Click Administrative Events
      6. Right click Administrative Events
      7. Save all Events in Custom View As...
      8. Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
      9. When asked, save the display information in English.
      10. Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
      11. Create a new folder by right clicking in a blank area within the folder Errors.evtx is saved in. You could also click New Folder at the top of the directory under the directory path box.
      12. Name the new folder Errors.
      13. Place Errors.evtx and the LocaleMetaData folder into the new Errors folder.
      14. Right click the Errors folder -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
      15. Upload the .zip file here.

    Eventvwr uploaded

OK well heres my event viewer log. I actually thought it was Creative Alchemy causing painkiller to crash but it turns out the crash in event viewer is at a different time. As I said, Its no big deal that after I finish and close a game :Barney: says it had encountered an error but if you want to get to the bottom of it and have a solution feel free to have a look.

It appears that re-installing Steam (uninstalling, and then installing the latest from the website) may be in order. I know that can be a pain with all the games installed, so it is up to you whether this is worth the trouble given that it is more of a slight annoyance/curiosity that led you to the forums. :)

If you do decide to re-install Steam, you can backup your games through Steam first to make it easier to re-install them if needed.

I dont think its necessay to back up your games. I think I reinstalled it a couple of months ago, all my games were still there. It just reinstalls the client.

Ah, thanks for that info. I have never had reason to uninstall the client, so I was not sure. There was someone I was helping today harping about uninstalling and wanting to avoid it, so I thought maybe that person knew something I did not about it also removing the games.
