    XP Games On 7

There is a game that I'm really interested in, but it says it's for WindowsXP. Will this run on Windows 7 ? I'm thinking that it would, but I don't want to spend money on the game and have it not work. I haven't been able to get Future Cop or Starcraft I to work on 7.

Hello, Try running the game in "compatibilty mode" for XP in win7. I have Godfather 1 and it was not running on win7. Tried with compatibilty and it worked.

To run in compatability mode you need to right click on the icon that you are using, and click on Properties. This will bring up a tab that will show a few things. You will see at the top that there is a tab for running in compatibility mode. Check the box and the grey bar under it (or next to it for some) will turn white. This means that Compatibility Mode is on, than click on Apply than OK, and poof! Compatibility mode is on!

I don't have something like that on my computer. I tried running in every compatibility mode my computer has and I just couldn't get Future Cop to install. I guess I'll just have to get a laptop that already has XP on it.

you have to right click on the game then click properties then in properties you click the tab called compatibility,it should be there assuming your running windows 7.

yep, every .exe and shortcut has the compatibility mode tab option.

r-click on the setup.exe for Future Cop >Properties and the compatibility tab should be there.

It might help to "run as Administrator" too.

However it might just be one of the few old games that simply won't install/run on Seven.

To get the original Starcraft and Broodwar to work on windows 7, all you need to do is register your key with a battle.net account, and don't use the CD's to install, instead go into the battle.net account management and download the client instead. The client version and the patched CD version are slightly different, and the one you download has several Windows 7 fixes in it, like the messed up colors, which is fixed if you download the client instead of using the CD.

I still play this game on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit system, if you have any questions feel free to ask.
