Gaming Issue with Laptop
I have this Acer Aspire laptop, model 5742-6458, Intel i3 370M with integrated graphics, 2.4GHz. This isn't an issue for me at all, as I'm satisfied with the performance I get with some of the games I play on this laptop (i.e., Skyrim at ~32 FPS). Here's my problem though. My laptop also has Intel Enhanced Speedstep technology. Convenient sometimes, not most of the time. I downloaded CPU-Z to monitor when my computer gets stepped down, to find that IEST brings down my CPU to 900MHz when it's reducing heat.
So I've gone around town to look for solutions (turning off IEST). Apparently, there is a setting in the BIOS to turn off/on IEST, and there are the power options. My problem specifically, is that I have the Insyde H20 version 1.29 BIOS, with all changeable computer settings in a locked state. As well, IEST isn't even an option. I pondered if my computer was just genuinely stupid. So I downloaded the Intel Processor ID Utility, to tell me that I do in fact have IEST enabled on my computer.
The only available option to me now is to change the power settings. From what I've read, there should be an "Always On" option. This, I also do not have. What I do have though, is the option to change the percentage of the min/max processor power. This feature only works when the AC is not in, set to 0%, and that works fine. When plugged in, it goes to the full 2.4GHz for a couple of minutes after I've ran the game, then steps down to 900MHz to 1.3GHz.
What can I do to make it so that IEST is off?
