rockets are you running the Latency check program while you are playing the game? If you don't then obviously it won't register any lag spikes. But a defrag using Puran defrag is a good idea, it's better than windows defrag. Also check your power options to see if anything is holding back CPU or graphics in any way.
    Hi event:

Yes I was running the lat check while playing and just alt + tab'ing back to desktop.

I think I found the issue. Seems to have been an outdated realtek sound driver. Funny thing about that is... I downloaded the most recent driver that Acer has on the product support page. It's from 01/2011. Acer sucks.

Only tested this in WCIII so far and no issues yet. Going to test in Killing Floor and others and see what happens.

    Thanks!

Mine is no longer hanging. Personally, I would not depend on the laptop manufacturer (Acer) website ever again to download vital drivers.

Big thanks again to those who helped in this thread! Sometimes the simplest things can make the biggest difference.

I'm now getting to enjoy Diablo 3 on mixed high/medium settings with no problems!

I was hanging for a bit even after the WLAN driver update...ran DPC and said it was normal..finally went with what RocketsFan did, and it was the audio..now its even more perfect, and noticed an increase in sound :)
