My first post, Sims 1 issues

Hello everyone,

I'm glad to actually have found this community and have heard from a few friends that if you have issues with some PC related things, this is the place to go. But enough flattery on my part, let me get to my issue.

I recently went through my CD book and found my old Sims 1 CD. While I understand that some OS have serious issues with older games, most of these can be solved with turning on compatibility modes or admin settings. I went looking on the internet for my Sims problem, so let me describe it here :

I click on the icon choosing which resolution I want the game to start in, I then get a blue circle 'working circle' and checking processes I do see that the game attempts to start. It immediately goes away after a few seconds of working and I see no changes on my screen.

I would like to get this working, I do miss my old Sims and would enjoy having it working as intended but setting compatibility to Windows XP SP 2 does nothing as well as setting Admin.

Anyone have any ideas or perhaps a thread I may have missed about getting it working or NOT getting it working if there is no work around?

Have you tried turning off visual themes?

The problem there is that the game is quite old for the computer you have. If you run it in compatibility mode, it might work better.
