    Playing MMORPGS with Windows 7

Anyone else playing any mmorpgs like World of Warcarft or Final Fantasy XI online on Windows 7?

I currently play FFXI and on Windows 7 it’s been ok; however windower doesn’t work even with UAC turned on or off. I have Tried Changing Ownership of the windower folder and still can’t get it to work.

Anyone notice anything different from Windows XP, or Windows Vista compared to playing on Windows 7?

I haven’t reactivated my WoW account so haven’t tried it yet on windows 7. I wouldn’t play WoW on vista because the frame rate was HORABLE.

I run the Benchmark Program for Final Fantasy XI online located at FINAL FANTASY XI Official Web Site on both my XP Pro and Windows 7 System with and without Sli with standard settings here is the outcome.

High Res Scores Low Res Scores
Win XP without SLI – 4999 Win XP without SLI - 6706
Win XP with SLI – 5004 Win XP with SLI - 6800

    Win 7 without SLI – 3830 Win 7 without SLI - 5186
    Win 7 with SLI – 3721 Win 7 with SLI – 5032

    These test were done on

    32-bit Operating System
    Intel CPU 2.80GHz x2
    1 GB RAM
    Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT x2

I am Really Shocked by the test results; I thought that Windows 7 would win this but it’s clear that running Final Fantasy XI Online with SLI enabled on XP Pro is the better of the choices; and I get to use windower.

I do have to say on behalf of Windows 7 the test looked much better than on XP and playing the game on Windows 7 did look more polished and less jaggy. I couldn’t test the frame rate on windows 7 because I couldn’t get windower to work. But it was about 27-29 FPS on XP.

I don’t have Vista installed but I am sure Win 7 would out beat it any day.

World of Warcraft works great on my computer. I get framerates comparable to those I get with Windows XP. This may be a really great OS and i'm excited to see what happens!

WoW works very well here on Windows 7. It was also working fine on Vista. Maybe you tried it out on Vista before your video card's chipset maker ironed out the drivers and/or before the various performance patches were released for Vista. By SP1, with the latest nVidia drivers, my GeForce 8800GTS on Core 2 Duo E6300 (2.13 GHz) with 2GB of RAM subjectively seemed to be performing roughly equivalent to XP. Now on Windows 7, it seems a bit smoother as RAM utilization may have improved and maybe the fact that I've upped it to 6GB and switched over to x64 could have been a factor.

I'd say go for it though. I doubt very much that you'll have any performance issues.

    hi adam09.

your post confuses me a little. is it saying that the POL program isnt found or the game files? i've been reading though a few places, but im really not sure what to look for, if you can be a little more specific, that would help with the diagnosis

    Hi everyone!
There are not so many modern games that can play on Window 7 beside WOW and Fianl Fantasty XI, Aion...
Most of my current games that I play used to be on window xp and vista.
Now I cant play my old games anymore, just because I have my new Window 7 Professional.
I did try to download Window virtual PC with XP mode so that I can run my old stuffs on it, but the system wont let me install the program and it keep saying that" Window virtual PC cant run while another viturlization program is working"
    I am tired of this.
    and here is my config:
OS: Window 7 Proffessional 32 bit
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd
    BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
    Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 945 ( 4 CPU) ~3.0 GHZ
    Memory: 4 GHz
    DirectX version: DirectX 11

If anyone know how to fix this problem please help me.

    Thanks!

Can you elaborate on this some more? I don't understand what you're saying here.

My compatibility so far has been pretty good. The only old game I have that refuses to run is Phantasy Star Online, which I haven't actually tried in years so I don't know if it is a Win7 thing or just a "doesn't like newer OS's in general" thing.

This won't work anyway, since the "XP Mode" thing isn't intended for games. Are you using another virtualization software?
