USB gamepad isn't recognized

Hey guys here is my problem. So I use a NES usb retropad that I connect to my laptop. When I go to the control panel I can see that it shows up but it isn't set as game controller it just says undefined for category. I know the controller works and all the drivers are up to date so I can't figure out why it wont work in any of the programs I try to using in, including any emulators or joy2key. When I try to use it in joytokey it says no controller detected but I know it shows up in the control panel. Any suggestions?

I dunno; I've fiddled with different model USB gamepads before, but in my (limited) experience if they show up in the control panel (printers & devices) and testing their buttons works there, that is enough for games. Thing is, I haven't had any show up as "undefined"; that right there sounds like it's a driver issue since the plug-n-pray mechanism isn't detecting it as a gamepad.

After searching elsewhere for answers, I was able to get it registered as a game controller in the control panel. However, When I try to view the settings to test the buttons it still doesn't show up. So it says under its own settings that its a usb game controller but won't show up under the game controllers.

Standard gamepad driver for Gravis Gamepad Pro USB?
Hi, I've got a Gravis Gamepad Pro USB and although a device is detected when I plug it in, it fails to install a driver. I can't find any Windows 7 x86 drivers on the net so I believe that I have to use some kind of standard HID driver to get it working, although I'm not sure which one. When...
