should i go for dx11 sli or stick to dx10 sli?

hey guys, quick question:

dx10 sli setup is well within my budget if i buy used dx10 cards for gaming. i already have a gtx260 core216 gpu and it performs pretty well for a used card.

would it make any difference in max setting performance if i build my rig in dx10 sli setup or should i keep trucking for a dx11 sli setup?

i am aware of what kind of graphics depth dx11 delivers compared to dx10. but consider the price tag on such a setup.

any thoughts?

I would say depending on what kind of game Genre you play. For me, as an avid First Person Gamer and one that only plays the Campaign, I see no reason why I should waste my money, at least not at the moment.

I will try to explain what I mean... as you, I have a GTX260 as my main GPU and a GT9500 for PhysX only.

The majority (if not all) the latest Shooters (many of them now 3rd person crap) are nothing more than Console Ports, some of them crappy and unoptimized (all Ubi Shooters make this list ) and some of them optimized (CoD's, Crysis 2) but still... they are all made with DX9 technology and even though I did not play Crysis 2 with the HUGE patch for DX11, I saw it on my friends computer and I am still not that convince as my DX9 game was most excellent when it came to video quality. I may not play these game in 120 frames per second but then again, I am tickled pink when I can do so at 30 to 45fps.

Sure, I work hard and I deserve to have the latest and the greatest (or at least 2nd or 3rd shelve down ;)) but really... Why?

On the other side of the token, if you have the money and you feel like buying something (nothing wrong with that)... I would go ALL OUT with Newer Technology all the time so... DX11 it is! :D

Hmm, that was kinda what I had in mind too. And seeing that I DO NOT make that much of dough, I could not possibly go for the latest and greatest. Sure the desire will always be absent but then again I have to maintain realistic. Would you say that dual cards GTX260's would prevent lagging on max settings possible? -excluding DX11 of course-.

Of course the CPU and memory size has to be taken into account, but for now my query concerns the GPU.

Go with dx11 cards, with the new consoles coming soon,dx9 will eventually be history. Better to more up to date imho but if you want dx10 cards then that's fine but I would go with dx11 cards because they will overall last you longer because they will not get outdated as fast.I would go with two gtx 460's if your going Nvdia but hey that's just me.

I would just hold on until such time you can upgrade your whole rig, 4GB is just a bare minimum at this juncture, that X2 is probably getting long in the tooth, so adding another GTX260 might not yield the push you think you will get. Now, if your board is capable of true SLI and the card can be found for cheap... why not! ;)

Believe you me, I can understand Desire very well, my rig is about 4 yrs old and I am still using DDR2 Ram but again... there is nothing out there worth spending money, I thought Crysis 2 might push me to it but nope, my rig was more than capable.
