WOW, and I thought UBI was extremely lacking when it came to porting their games to PC but I guess Rockstar is not far behind.

I hope you guys get all your problems sorted out... I am going to wait a few more weeks to see if I pick up the game... more so for nostalgic reasons

I am sure is a social club issue.

I had this to fix it you must remove Social club completely! I mean from temp files, app data, registry I mean really scrub your computer clean from it. Then remove all Max Payne 3, disable net framework 4.

Then reinstall Max Payne (update social club) then install C++ 2008 then re-enable framework 4.

It was hard work and Rockstar followed suit like all there previous games and made hell out of it. But it now plays brilliantly unlike all Rockstar games. I cannot promise you it will work but it worked for me and that was the solution.

L.A. Noire worked out of the box and Max Payne 3 didn't for some its the other way around but remove L.A. Noire and all the Rockstar crap off you pc before you reinstall.

Jumping up and down while applauding and rubbing my tummy is not my idea of fun when installing a game... it is ok for Gurus to attempt all that but a game should install correctly from the get go.

For those who have bought the game, well, you have to jump through all those hurdles to make the game work but, I insist... it shouldn't be that way nor is ok for them to patch until fix, it should be playable right after I pay for it

As per topic, I installed Max Payne 3 which took exactly 2 hours 15 minutes. After launching the game, it asked to update as new update was available so did that as well. On welcome screen, when I press enter. It says initializing and remains like that

Anyone else had similar problem, how can I resolve this problem? Really want to play this game.

    Thanks

*** forget to mention, I already googled this, and found something to change name of folder in registry which I have done but still can't play ***

    Hi
don't know if u got a solution to your issue but had the same problem & i solved it by first blocking MP3 from connecting in a anyway to the internet by blocking it in the outbound connections in control panel> Windows Firewall. Then finally to get it working i installed something i had ignored in the initial installation the social club. Then i launched the game created an account when social club came up and finally all you have to do is select exit NOT FROM THE GAME but from Social Club it should then take you to the awesomeness (not sure thats even eng) of Max Payne 3. Hope this does help. Note i have a repack of abt 12.7 GB & i used no cracks or patches yet coz i have not encountered any other issues so far .

installing the game is a headache but that Rockstar club crap is even worse you have to make a account and such just to play the game which rockstar has never done this which is very disapointing

This is as stupid as what UBI tried to do when it required you to be online all the time to play the Campaign... that's just asinine.

I was stuck on initializing as well. I tried changing the compatibility settings and running as an administrator, this did not work. I manually installed the latest version of the Rockstar Games Social Club and the latest patch and it fixed the problem. The social club appeared in-game and prompted me to enter my CD key. It's working now. I have the non-steam version.
