I had this issue a while back, have you tried a different USB port? Mine was fixed by connecting via an externally powered USB hub

Does This Apply To Your Controller?

Synch the controller and USB dongle by pressing the button on the dongle, and then pressing the small white button at the top of the controller.

The one I have has four quadrant lights that when you press the large "X" it will select one of the quads and stay lit. The controller only works with some games I guess.

What USB Hub do you recommend MrNeeds cuz i just tried using on another USB and it worked for about a minute then it disconnected from the controller so it must a power problem with the receiver since im using a laptop

I used a cheap one from a supermarket, as long as its externally powered it should be fine, I used to use the rock band one for Xbox 360 and that worked a treat, so it's really personal preference
