    F.E.A.R No Sound Windows 7

Steam had a special deal for a pack of all of the F.E.A.R games before F.3.A.R and I decided to finally give the game a try. After a long download, I launched it and everything seemed to work fine. The sound worked for the little introduction screen for like NVIDIA and stuff, but once I got in game, there was no sound whatsoever. I've been searching for two nights now and haven't found anything that has fixed this problem. Can someone please help me? I'd really like to be able to play a game I spent money on with sound. I'd appreciate any help.

I'm using Windows 7 N and Realtek High Definition Audio.

Have you looked over all the sound options in the game?
I had this problem while using surround sound in The Elder Scrolls "Morrowind".
I forgot exactly what I changed, but there was an option that would "mute" the sound depending on where I looked.

Yeah, I've messed around with the in-game sound settings turning them all off, or all on, but it still didn't work.

Weird, I played all the FEAR games in my Windows 7 x 64 and I had no issues... Possible solutions:

1.- Update your audio and video drivers even if you recently did... it doesn't hurt and it may solve the issue.

2.- If you didn't install the Game's DirectX when prompted, re install and do so this time... it does not hinder your DX11 in any way

3.- Perhaps you need to patch the game and perhaps this should be option #1 instead of the last option... I almost never patch because I only play the Campaign, this is why I wrote this as a last option.

Google the sound problem, sometimes, the answer is simple. Good Luck

I've already tried updating my sound drivers and it told me that they're the latest and most fit for my computer. Sorry for the newbie questions, but what is the game's DirectX and how do I install it? I'm also not quite sure how to patch the game. I've been searching Google for the past three nights and I haven't been able to find a solution that has worked.

Hmmmm, it seems to me that you are trying to update your audio from Windows Update and it is telling you that you got the latest drivers.

Not knowing your specs, it is hard for me (or anybody for that matter) to get you the latest audio drivers for your motherboard (if onboard) or card (if external PCI audio card) but:

You must find your specs and then go to the manufacturer of your card/ go to technical support or Downloads and find the drivers for your model and version of the card.

You must also go to the games's website and check if the game has any patches available... which FEAR are you playing?

During the game installation, sometimes (most of the times really) the game will install and midway through the installation, it will tell you whether you want to install a copy of DirectX or not, some people don't do this but we have now come to learn that it is necessary to do.

Various ways to find your computer specs...

Start>All programs> Accessories> system tools>System Information... it does not give you the info on your Audio or Video card though.

Click on Start, type DXDiag on the "Search Programs and Files" windows and hit enter.

    It's the very first F.E.A.R

I did what you said, DXDiag, should I post a screen shot of all of the information?
