No, not true at all. Right mouse button aims just like many other shooters. Unless that someone is trying to control everything with just KB only, I haven't tried that.

I can't really elaborate on that one, I just used the stuff that came up by default and it seemed pretty intuitive. There's some stuff like running from cover to cover is executed by aiming at a cover point while already in cover and holding down shift that seemed uncomfortable at first because I'd never seen it done that way before, but really, the default controls are pretty basic and should be no problem for anyone who has played 1st/3rd person shooters before.
I have to agree that ports always simplify the commands down to what you can fit on a controller, and if people are comparing it to the Rainbow Six titles of old that might be the reason there's some hatred out there for this title. But for all the limitations that come with being a port, I'd have to say it's not bad at all. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel i5 750 Motherboard ASUS P7P55D Pro Memory GSkill 8GB DDR3-1600 Graphics Card EVGA Nvidia GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard and external Presonus Firestudio Project Monitor(s) Displays 2 x NEC LCD 1850E Screen Resolution 1280x1024 x2 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech MX Revolution PSU Thermaltake ToughPower 750W Case NZXT Lexa Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives lots of 'em Internet Speed 25 Mb/s down 1.5 Mb/s up Other Info This is my recording studio PC. That's just it, I never saw the game ask me to press the 'HOLD' button. As in my previous post, you use the right mouse button to aim. It does ask you to hold some of the keys to access extra functions, like tapping the F quick tosses a grenade/sensor/W.H.Y. and holding F shows you the trajectory arc before you release to throw for more precise control. In that case it says 'HOLD F' to throw. Maybe that's confusing some people. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel i5 750 Motherboard ASUS P7P55D Pro Memory GSkill 8GB DDR3-1600 Graphics Card EVGA Nvidia GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard and external Presonus Firestudio Project Monitor(s) Displays 2 x NEC LCD 1850E Screen Resolution 1280x1024 x2 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech MX Revolution PSU Thermaltake ToughPower 750W Case NZXT Lexa Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives lots of 'em Internet Speed 25 Mb/s down 1.5 Mb/s up Other Info This is my recording studio PC. Hmmm, you may be right... I am going to my friend's house later to tell him, yet again, how much I think he's got more money than brains and to see exactly what is the problem and whether I will spend the 5 bucks buying the game in a few weeks time
Like me, he uses the RMB to walk instead of the W but I doubt that this is why he is having issues. He did say that it took an awful long time to install but again, I doubt this is a problem. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) CPU Intel Q9650 Motherboard EVGA 780i FTW Memory 8GBs Corsair Dominator 1066Mhz Graphics Card Asus GTX660 (2GBs) + MSI 9600GT (PhysX) Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays Acer AL2216W Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU PC Cooling 750w Silencer Case Thermaltake Spedo Advance Cooling CM 8V Hard Drives WD VelociRaptor 300GB

Hey AstaLaVista,
You got me really curious about the control configs on this game so I booted up my gaming rig after my last post and checked it out. Turns out everything is user configurable on the KB/mouse controls, but nothing is configurable on the controller. So, your bud should be able to change every binding to whatever he wants.
Also, I forgot to mention that having a USB controller plugged in is apparently screwing up KB/mouse control for some people, so pulling the plug on the 360 controller or what have you is recommended. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel i5 750 Motherboard ASUS P7P55D Pro Memory GSkill 8GB DDR3-1600 Graphics Card EVGA Nvidia GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard and external Presonus Firestudio Project Monitor(s) Displays 2 x NEC LCD 1850E Screen Resolution 1280x1024 x2 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech MX Revolution PSU Thermaltake ToughPower 750W Case NZXT Lexa Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives lots of 'em Internet Speed 25 Mb/s down 1.5 Mb/s up Other Info This is my recording studio PC. Ok, he does not have a controller plugged in, that I know for a fact. He also says that there is only a few option for the key/mouse, he does not see or have access to change Aim or Zoom or anything else but the basics.
Now, being said that, he has not patched the game yet, I told him not to do it after the horrors I read when you patch the game to 1.02 or whatever the patch version is. So, unless one of those patches gives you more options for kb/mouse controls then he botched something in the installation.
What version of the game are you running? if patched, is everything working fine? I will be at his house in a couple of hours so I can still get a few more answers fo him :d
He also only does Campaign, he doesn't play MP so he doesn't really care to patch the games and I didn't read anything about fixing mouse/kb options on any of the patches's list
Edit: OK, you do have more choices of KB/mouse but you need to hover your mouse on the options and scroll down, there is no tab to show you that you can do so and I found it by luck . Luckily, I didn't patch it before I found a way.
Now, it says to use Q to select your targets and keep Q press so your teammates can shoot at the same time but it does not seem to work or we are doing something wrong. There is a point in the first mission where you must rescue paez and you must do it silently and I stopped there as I got shot down to many times trying to shoot my way in
So far, shody port but playable (if you don't mind some of the functions not working). Graphics are not bad but they could be better for sure. Third Person just screams Run and Gun, there is nothing tactical about this game since so far, this mission is pretty linear. Moves are cumbersome because of TPV and I sure miss First Person View. That sensor grenade makes you feel like a God as you can't miss a baddie . I particularly don't like assists or being held by the hand and constantly told what to do but I guess that's what the masses want so that's what they get. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) CPU Intel Q9650 Motherboard EVGA 780i FTW Memory 8GBs Corsair Dominator 1066Mhz Graphics Card Asus GTX660 (2GBs) + MSI 9600GT (PhysX) Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays Acer AL2216W Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU PC Cooling 750w Silencer Case Thermaltake Spedo Advance Cooling CM 8V Hard Drives WD VelociRaptor 300GB

There is a point in the first mission where you must rescue paez and you must do it silently and I stopped there as I got shot down to many times trying to shoot my way in If you tap the Q key while aiming at a target it marks it for your team. You can mark 4 targets and the last one is yours. If all the icons on the screen (there are 1-4 icons in the top left that show if at least one target is marked) are blue, they will fire when you fire. If you have less than 4 marked it gets dicey, sometimes they fire when you do, sometimes not, I haven't figured out the pattern yet. What you can do though is hold the Q key down and all team members with a locked target in sights will fire. So, you can take a high vantage point, target 3 enemies, and your team will move to good firing positions and take them out on your order.
I've found the AI pathfinding can get stupid sometimes. On one infiltration mission two of my guys were taking way too long to line up targets and when I checked on them they were stuck on a piece of scenery. When I reloaded the mission, all was fine, so yeah, bugs are definitely there. But I think the functions are working, they are just hard for some people to get their head around, and the game is not at all clear with the help popups. For example, I didn't know you could roll side to side from the prone position until I saw the info on a loading screen. I feel like I'm getting close to the end of the campaign and I have to admit I liked it. I'd class it as better than Gears of War, but then again I hated Gears of War so that's not saying much.
If you liked the sensor grenade, you'll really like the remote drones.
Edit: forgot to mention the version I'm running is 1.0.120531. I think that's the release day version, and I'm not going to screw around with any patches until I finished the campaign, which isn't gonna happen today. Canada Day up here so it's time to party. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel i5 750 Motherboard ASUS P7P55D Pro Memory GSkill 8GB DDR3-1600 Graphics Card EVGA Nvidia GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard and external Presonus Firestudio Project Monitor(s) Displays 2 x NEC LCD 1850E Screen Resolution 1280x1024 x2 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech MX Revolution PSU Thermaltake ToughPower 750W Case NZXT Lexa Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives lots of 'em Internet Speed 25 Mb/s down 1.5 Mb/s up Other Info This is my recording studio PC. Gunsmith options are not user friendly, I tried this a few times and I couldn't find an option to attach a suppressor to my main or secondary weapon... is there a secret handshake to do this?
Choosing RAMDON gives an option of some suppressed weapons but it changes the whole previous customization on you... oh well
I find it funny (and a little insulting as well) that the Ghost Team is in Zambia (Africa) and the people are speaking Portuguese like if the were in Brazil... WTF!!!
I know, don't sweat the little things, right? little things are what make me upset or happy... what can I tell you.
Yeah, the game is full of bugs, unacceptable but, like most people you have come to expect and live with it, you man up and continue on. The problem is that, the line between a finished game and Unfinished is thin and gray, the more you allow them to pass over the draw line, the buggier the next game will be until such time that it will be ok for you to pay a year or two ahead before the game is even announce.
Unthinkable, right? Well, remember the days when you game could be open and you were promptly playing with it instead of waiting for patches or promises of support?
