Hands down, PS3. The X360 doesn't have the library of RPGs the PS3 has.
Really, I don't care if console ABC is made of gold, costs $1, and is indestructible... if it doesn't have the games I want. The X360 is a nice machine, I do play the odd shooter now and then, but it's my PS3 which gets the most mileage due to RPGs.
Also, are you guys throwing your machines and controllers against the wall or something? >__> I play for an hour or two everyday after work, 2 years going and still pristine. And I have the white-coloured PS3 (admittedly, I wanted to purchase the cool black one but they were out of stock, and I grew to like the white one anyway).
Xbox is better.Skyrim has problems on ps3.Orange box was great and still is but was a terrible port on sonys machine. You get what you pay for when it comes to internet.Budget blue ray players from sony and panasonic blow the ps3 out of the water in terms of picture and sound quality. The current xbox is now much quieter and dont suffer from the problems of the earlier models. So if i was buying now i would go for the 360.
Both machines have strengths and weaknesses. I personally have a PS3 because I'm a Gran Turismo addict, but I've played on a 360 on numerous occasions and it's a great machine.

Well Im only looking into them for certain games that are exclusive to consoles anyway. If a game has a PC version, Id buy it first.
Still considering which way to go, or if its even worth the effort .. Im wondering if i may be disappointed in either one, being as I may be expecting similar result as my PC gives.
When it comes to visual output of console games, when you're used to SSAA or 32xCSAA at resolutions as high at 2560x1600 or 1920x1200 on your trusty PC, be prepared for the literal eye cancer some games can give you on the console...
Games on the console are usually saved by great art direction and design, not the technical merits... Be prepared for the aliasing and muddy textures... Oh God, the horror!!!!
If your looking for graphics then stay away from the consoles they both have the same visuals. If your looking for exclusives ,I would go with the xbox and the xbox 360 has backwards compatibly to older xbox games while the ps3 cant play ps2 games and only ps3 but can play ps1 games if your into that.Anyways I play the xbox for gears of war and when ever the pc gets a crap port i get it for the xbox instead.Other then that my bro is the one that plays on the xbox,i rarely touch it and prefer my pc.Only console I ever played a lot in the past was the ps2 and snes and that's about it.
Xbox 360
Why? Microsofts online experience is extremely fast for games on Xbox LIVE. Also their DVD player is much clearer with less noise I've heard. Their controllers are much easier to use and their games run more fluently.

Think I might just get both.
But I did go ahead and pick up a PS3 yesterday. Started off with red Dead Redemption and Final Fantasy gaemes as Ive been wanting to play them.
Grabbed Dark Souls too because I heard a lot of good things about it, but noticed last night its coming to Steam/PC next month.
So will probably return it for something else and grab that one on PC.
I have a 360 here now as well, although its not mine. But will have it for a while. Lots og games but all FPS, and not so crazy about those.
