Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver not working - Solution

Hi Guys,

I joined simply to post this potential solution because it pissed me off so much. There are tonnes of solutions involving installing drivers so I am not going to repeat this process. This solution is for those that have a fake receiver which is installed and recognised by the PC, but the controller is either not connecting or keeps disconnecting. Open up the receiver, I did this by driving a knife in the joint between the 2 peices of casing and prying it open, inside there are 2 small screws unscrew them and remove the circuit board, underneath there is a metal plate not sure what its for, could be a heatsink, could be a counterwieght either way for me that was the problem, removing it an reassembling the case fixed my issue. I bought my receiver over a year ago and have never had it working till now. Hopefully this will resolve other peoples problems aswell... Solution offered in good will and without warranty of course.

You think that it was the Metal that was blocking your signal?

I'm assuming so because its working now, I was going to start probing the PCB, so I plugged it in without the case and it connected before I even pressed the sync button, so I assumed it was something to do with the metal interfering somehow, removed it and all is good...

like the OP i joined this forum to say my peace. its the metal plate [god in heavens knows why its there]. i followed op's suggestion and now works perfect on windows 10 pro [using windows 7 drivers, 2015 build].

to open it you have to start at the rubber part where the cable is. the two parts are super glued, so will take some force, but it will give way. unscrew PCB and its under there, super glued to the case.
