GTA4 Very low FPS for good system

Hey guys, i just bought GTA4, installed it, just to find out the max FPS i can get is 15, i can play many other games, COD4, MW2, on highest settings and have 50+ FPS, but on this i have to set it to the very very lowest settings, to get 30FPS.

Ive reinstalled it a few times, updated drivers, even OC'd my CPU and RAM halfway through, to see no difference whatsoever. Also updated it with the latest patch, and still only hits 10-15 FPS.

Is there something im missing? Anyone else experiencing this?

    ok...... lets see :)

firstly, you cant compare MW2 or COD4 to any other games for an FPS comparison... these 2 games are not intensive at all (for some unknown reason), its very common to be pulling well over 200fps while running max settings.

now then, in regards to GTA4...

this game is VERY intensive on the CPU & GPU, your chip @ stock settings is struggling with this game, as is your 9400GT.

if you can OC the CPU you'll see a significant boost in framerate, but once you do that your GPU will then become the limiting factor.

no one can have this game run silky smooth b/c at the end of the day its a ''poorly'' coded console port, which devourers system resources.

so to answer your question...what your seeing is normal for the H/W your using..

Hmm, well my CPU is running at 3.1Ghz, and i have 8GB of ram in it, (need to add that to system specs), at very lowest i hit 30FPS, max settings, i get 15-19 FPS.

I was hoping it would raise the FPS, but apparently not :/

....you also need to add your OC to the specs...

3ghz is still not that fast, can you get anymore out of her..??

i mean even if you could get it to 4.5ghz your still limited by the GPU, the 9400GT is not really designed as a gaming card... its more for media playback, GTA4 will chew it up & spit it out im afraid..

You need to play around with the games graphics options. At higher settings the game is very demanding and can cause graphical problems. So try lowering it.

Yeah I had that, where you just see the background, so I had to fiddle with the settings until it reappeared.

haha, i mean, everything appears fine, but when i said i cant see anything, everything is in very bad quality, and fuzzy, but i can still drive around, and everything fine, just the quality is that of a Playstation 1.
