Dungeon Siege Legends of Aranna and Windows 7 64

Recently I tried to install an old favorite game called Dungeon Siege on my Win 7 64 pc.

I followed every DOC on the web but found they only really applied to the original Dungeon Siege. That one will run in Windows 7 once you

I'll include instructions on how to get Dungeon Siege 1 And the Stand Alone expansion Legends of Aranna. If you have Legends you dont need DS 1 as it has both versions.

1. Dungeon Siege

Install the original dungeon siege 1 (2 disk set) version 1.0
once installed run the patch program below. Run as administrator. Right click on file and chose run as admin option.

Download this patch which takes it from 1.0 to 1.11.1462
dungeonsiegeupdate1.0-1.11.1462_english.exe

once patched

Right click on desktop icon for dungeon siege. Set to run in xp sp2 compatability mode. Also have it run as admin. (I can run it without this mode in Windows 7 so you might not need to set it)

Go to the game install directory and find program called. DSVideoConfig.exe
run that and choose your video card. Don't choose the one that has hardware T&L. choose ati 5000 - hardware (example)

To set rez above defaults.

Go to mydocuments and find the dungeon siege folder. Open the dungeionsiege.ini file and change the rez to what you want. ie 1920x1080 and save it.

example of the ini file.

driver_description = ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series - Hardware
width = 1920
height = 1080
bpp = 32
last_good_cdrom = D:\

[multiplayer]
gun_server = dungeonsiege.zone.com
gun_server_port = 2300
news_server = motd.dungeonsiege.zone.com
news_server_file = /news/news.txt
news_server_port = 80
autoupdate_server = autoupdate.zone.com
autoupdate_proxy = autoupdate.zone.com

when you click the icon it should load up fine now.
To run without a CD (disk 1)
copy the nocd exe into the install directory. rename the original file to old just in case.

2. Dungeon Siege Legends of Aranna (this contains version 1.5 of DS and LOA)

This game would not run in windows 7 no matter what I did. It would give errors on loading the game. Since it would not even load the game it never would create the directory C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Dungeon Siege LOA

It ran fine in windows XP just not in win 7 64. I even tried to manaully create a directory with proper ini files. Still bombs on loading. No compatability modes worked either. I put DX 9.0c and DX 8.1 on. No go.

The fix???
GameCopyWorld - Dungeon Siege: Legends Of Aranna - NoCD No-CD No-DVD Trainers & Game Fixes

I got the no CD keys for DS Legends of Aranna. All you do is replace the
DSLOA.exe
DungeonSiege.exe
files with the no CD versions. After doing that it works fine.

The glitch has something to do with the CD check when you first load it.
you still should run DSVideoConfig.exe and check to see if the game created directory in mydocuments.

I did not to set compatibility mode to get it to run.

Commands for Dungeon Siege
. Can be put in ini file or from desktop shortcut.
Below is how to set it to skip intro and set the rez. This is in the TARGET area of the games desktop shortcut icon.

"K:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege\DSLOA.exe" nointro=true height=1080 width=1920
