Hi I recently installed Fallout NV on my PC, but right after a few seconds of game launch, it crashes.

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and my hardware is:
Asus P5QC Motherboard - Intel Core2Duo E7300 - ATI Radeon 4850 (with latest x64 driver) - and 4 GB's of DDR2 RAM.

I've tried many of common fixes on the web, like Win XP compatibility mode, copying some DLL file... nothing worked.

Here's the problem detail on crash dialog:

Have bought the game? I did some research and found many people using illegal torrents/downloads experiencing the same problem.

Also, I'm not sure how resource-needing Fallout is; otherwise it might just be your processor/something else not able to handle Fallout.

You shouldn't need to use compatibility mode etc to get Vegas to run.

Have you tried updating your DirectX run time files?

(or the full download)

And are you using the .exe or the launcher?

Also, I'm not sure how resource-needing Fallout is; otherwise it might just be your processor/something else not able to handle Fallout.

It's demanding, but the OPs specs will run it.

Consider doing as smarteyeball just said; update DirectX. It's a important component required for running Fallout (and other Microsoft Games; Fallout is from MS right?).

It's from Bethesda. My specs is more than enough for the game, as the launcher automatically sets the graphic to Ultra when launched for the first time. Also I can run Skyrim on high just fine, but I get lag on Ultra...

About your other questions, no the game is not legit. (I can't buy legit copies as a result of the sanctions :(. )

I will update DX see what that'll do.

Also I've tried both the launcher and .exe both end in the same crash.

I tried updating DX, at first it said Installed successfully. But Windows asked if the program was installed correctly. I chose to re-install using recommended settings and the installation crashed. Here's the log:

Consider doing as smarteyeball just said; update DirectX. It's a important component required for running Fallout (and other Microsoft Games; Fallout is from MS right?).

The Fallout series, and Oblivion series, are Bethesda titles. And as such aren't the most smoothly running games to begin with. Basically the game engine used in both series has issues with micro-stuttering. It basically goes back to four games now - on the Fallout side you have Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, on the Elder Scrolls side you have Oblivion and now Skyrim.

There was a big thread about it in both the Steam and Bethesda Skyrim forums. It was even briefly mentioned in my thread here - http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/198691-discuss-skyrim-50.html#post1709774

@ the OP....

You could check out my how to guide (Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues) and see if anything in there will help. However being that the game is, well.... you may be fighting a losing battle.

BTW I have Fallout NV (as well as Skyrim) and my versions work well, despite the occasional micro stuttering.

That said, I can only imagine what your "unofficial" version is doing, especially if it's not patched.

Good luck.

I'm out.

'sup smarteye ;)

Skyrim runs just fine... maybe an occasional stutter but nothing really important. Well except for some bugs that are not engine related.

Also from my search on the web, I've found out it's not unique to illegal versions. Some people had this issue on legit copies as well, as I've read on Steam and Bethesda forums.

Bethesda games are great but always badly bug infested. They seriously need to do something about it.
