    Choppy Movement in Games

    Hello,

I having been having this issue for a while and I find that most people do not understand what I am trying to describe. The issue is when trying to move or look around in games like Skyrim everything appears jerky. Or anytime the view field pans. If the view field is still everything in the view field run smooth as silk with no jumping/choppiness. It feels almost like the game is loading or I am having .2-.5 seconds of lag. This really puts a damper on any game that I am trying to play.

This issue happens in almost every game I play. It occurs in Skyrim, Diablo 3, Magicka, and even older games like the original never winter nights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but through extensive testing I have found that it is not caused by the following: Server or internet lag, outdated graphics drivers(mine are fully updated and have been reinstalled several times).

My system specs are as follows:

Running windows 7 home premium 64 bit
    12.0 GB of ram
    Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.4 GHz
and a Radeon HD 7700 graphics card

If any more information is needed please let me know and thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

It kind of sounds like it could be screen tearing. Try running the game with v-sync, see if that will help, or try running the game at lowest settings.

Also, could you maybe post a video of the choppiness?

Have you consider that it could be your mouse or driver issue causing the problem?

I used to game (Campaigns and Shooters only) with a Logitech G7 wireless mouse and at some crucial points, lateral movements up and down moves, etc, etc... my mouse use to freeze momentarily (fractions of a second really) but enough to annoy me because it meant that I was dead

Other than that... I am stumped

Thanks for the info guys. Unfortunately this happens with v-sync on or off. Also tried several different mice. And happens at max and lowest graphics.

Does the choppiness happen every time you play skyrim for example, or is it every once in a while? And was the choppiness always there or did it at some point start to happen out of nowhere?

The choppiness happens every time. It seemed to be there from the beginning along with all other games it happens in; which is a long list.

I re-read your original post, and if it is smooth when everything is loaded, but it is choppy when rendering new things, it sounds like it might be a problem with your hard-drive. Try running a disk defragmenter, preferably defraggler, and see if that helps. Also run a disk check (I don't remember exactly how, but it's in these forums somewhere). It sounds like it is more of a hardware issue than a software issue to me, but I may be wrong.

-To AstaLaVista, The problem persists in offline and online modes as well as strictly offline games. It will happen even if I unplug the Ethernet cord.

-To Billytale13, It is choppy when loading and when everything has been loaded. I can go back into a room I just cleared and it will still be choppy.

As added information this is a brand new computer, 0% fragmented hard drive, disk check has also been run several times to now avail.

Again thanks for your input but unfortunately the problem still persists.

Could you list a couple more games that this happens with, as well as some games that run perfectly fine?
