Halo 2 Vista on Windows 7 keeps asking me to update.

I have a laptop running on Windows 7 64bit. I recently installed Halo2 on my laptop and after I have gotten past the Windows Live registration this message appears......: An update is available for this game from LIVE. If you decline this update, you will be signed out of LIVE. Do you want to apply this update? When I press yes, then Halo 2 closes. When I open it again, same thing happens. I tried downloading manually: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...718/Update.exe , but it still doesn't work. Any way to solve this problem?

I don't actually have the game but with other games such as Battlefield Bad Company 2 there is a way to get passed the update process, not sure if thats the same with this but its worth a shot.

    Go to the installation directory i.e. (C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo 2)

In there somewhere should be the exe file which runs the game i.e. Halo2.exe or Halo2game.exe

there should be another exe file for the updater i.e. Halo2Updater.exe.

Run Halo2.exe/Halo2game.exe and not the updater, hopefully this will bypass the update stage of the game

Well, I don't see the updater file anywhere, so clicking on halo2.exe doesn't solve the problem. The update stage just keeps on appearing.

    I was just hoping tbh.

All I can recommend is that you reinstall the program, followed by updating manually. Cause all I can think it would be is that the installation process was corrupted, interrupted or failed in some way. However if ur only planning to play offline why don't you reinstall and NOT update as this will allow you to play.

Well......once I press no, the games automatically redirects me to the profile page, then when I click on my profile, it says that the profile has not been downloaded correctly and it tells me to delete the profile. How do I do that?

I also had a hard time getting Halo 2 to run under Windows 7. Kept getting the a Game For Windows Live error even though I had the latest version of Live. I never did get it to run so I gave up, but I'd already played it like 3 time before on Vista so I gave up.

Anyway you can see my post here - Halo 2 will not install on Windows 7.

Sorry I can't be of any further help as I've not attempted to install the game since.
