I installed and played on full graphics last night at full HD resolution......i have a radeon rx3870 with 512mb ram .......although i havent installed any ati drivers or the catylst centre i'm still with the standard win7 drivers for my card havent had time to download and install latest yet.

I had no issues at all played 100% perfect on my overclocked e4600 INTEL core2duo with 4 gigs of ram

Well reading this comments and don't know what to say. I mean i am ati amd fan since i switch from geforce 4 to ati radeon 9600, that was like in 2003/04... Having my computer since 2000 and upgrading it on every 2 years. Last i buy was a ati 4850 and im not a pro gamer and can't spend a lot of money but im totaly satisfied with my config and i can play anything on this machine on high... except nfs shift... And i hate intel and nvidia all bc of monopol and high prices and also trying to kill competition so hard... Dont want amd ati to go away bc they are much afortable and have a good performance for casual users.

I didnt see any difference running ageia phisicx on ati and on nvidia till nvidia buy it and call it nvidia phisicx... then suddenly your ati card cant show waiving flags and some particles etc..(like in mirrors edge , the game suck anyway... ) ...

Well long story short i will not play nfs shift untill they do something about it ... The one patch come for shift but it only fix MOUSE so you can use mouse in meni and some multyplayer support... and still they know about the performance issue but still not working on it... im starting to hate ea games... and the only nfs **** i rally wanted to play(all other suck more or less) thet is closer to realyism and gt5 and forca motorsport is not working now... ill just wait /// for miracle patch

this is what i hear from one user

"I was on EA Support live chat last night because I didn't recieve the Promo code for the Porsche Cayman S (which they resolved). Whilst I was there I asked about whether they were working on improving performance on ATI cards. He told me that they had had a lot of complaints and that their engineers were working on it."

so i wait... or we wait ...

    NFS Shift CTD

Windows 7 build 7600 x64 and Vista x64 Ultimate in dual boot here. All drivers up to date.

In Win 7 x64, NFS Shift starts & runs normally up to the point the actual race should start, where it crashes to desktop every single time. Haven't been able to run a race yet within Win 7. Very frustrating!
Other games (CoH, CoD WaW, Anno 1404 plus others) run great in Win 7.
Have tried to run NFS Shift in Vista and XP compatibility mode - always the same CTD.

In Vista x64 Ultimate NFS Shift runs fine, though.

Planning to make a clean Win 7 (only) install later on, hopefully NFS Shift will work then (implying something's slightly borked in my present 7).

    Cheers Uffe

Same happened to me but i reformatted my compuer (had a lot of useless crap on it) i then *acquired* a different copy of SHIFT and now it works great. i almost wish i didn't install it cuz the game's so damn hard with the keyboard lol
Anyways from what i gathered, if you installed the latest framework, then you shouldn't have. If you let the game install DX and Nvidia Physx, then also don't, instead get it from the Nvidia site directly not sure bout ATI cards cuz im not using one. If you decided to update your windows installer, then another no no. From what i learned and also from the words of someone else on this site (i forget whom), "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Try to use all important drivers from manufacturer's site and again don't install anything you don't absolutely NEED. As you can see my specs, i can play the game without prob, but again i installed the latest .net framework 4 and the newest c++ and everything i thought i needed but turns out i didn't so somewhere something went wrong and now that i didn't do the same mistake everything works and looks beautiful!

Reinstalled newest DirectX from MS and PhysX from nVidia - ctd problem persists: cannot play NFS Shift in Win 7 x64.

@ustahl Try changing shadows quality. There is a known bug about that. For example, on one friend´s pc with low shadows crashed and with medium worked fine. Weird yeah.

    Got it working

I made a clean 7 x64 install on a different hdd, and now Shift works beautifully.
I guess I had applied too many tweaks on my previous 7 install, using Windows 7 Manager, Tweak-7, EnhanceMySe7en plus some additional registry hacks from various tweaking forums. It's soo easy to get carried away and overdo it in the wonderland of tweaking Windows...

    Cheers

There has to be a specifice windows install that triggers the malfunction in this game. when i reformatted my computer the other day i installed the game and it ran flawlessly. today i had a windows update and did a few roll backs on my restore point but after the install of the game and now it doesn't work. it crashes right before the race starts. i didn't change anything on the drivers so i know its something system related that can't handle something. i see this as a bug, and not hardware related. i've run into this scenario 3 times now on separate occasions so its definitely a windows related bug. Hopefully someone can actually track it down
