You know what is funny, all my gaming clan and friends that build AMD/ATI systems have non stop problems on XP/Vista/Windows 7. Mostly lagging, chopping, and just pathetically slow...and these are PRO built systems! I have build computers for many years, and I am an Intel/Nvidia guy, and NEVER have any system I made had those issues (excluding out dated graphic/cpu of course). I would honestly say though...your biggest issue is A: the brand of video card sucks B: Your ram sucks or you have Corsair...which is the worst EVER! Use Mushkin, Patriot, or Kingston HyperX (absolutely no value ram LOL) although Kinston is a bit slower yet it is stable as a rule (some motherboards reject Mushkin for some reason...which I would say that mobo blows then...like EVGA! their boards are so ram picky, sheesh)
No I am not an AMD/ATI hater, I just prefer smooth systems. ROFL | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 (Build 7068) |

Well i try some tweaks but nothing, i updated phisX that didn't help, i installed latest 9.9 drivers for my ati card and nothing again, whatsoever now it crash and somethimes dont want to start the game... I play alot of games on this sistem for ages and one i did have problem.. and i know this is all nvidia intel deed they want to kill amd ati that is for sure... well one proof of angry ati amd usres are here AMD Game Forums - ATI/AMD performance on Need for Speed Shift
(this is the link to other forum just for demonstration, nothing else )
And it is strange but the game runs poor also on my macintosh G5 with intel quad core and 8800gt with 4gb of ram... I hate nvidia bc they keep the monopol, and they buy ageia phisicx and call it nvidia phisicx and make it work only on nvidia graphic cards, like ati cant do the phisics of flags effect in mirrors edge loool ... ati vs nvidia battle is no good for end users! | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 RTM CPU AMD Athlon X2 4000+ Motherboard elitegroup nforce6m-a v2.0 Memory 2gb ddr2 800mhz Graphics Card Sapphire Ati Radeon 4850 Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2216w Internet Speed WDSL |

Hey the first thing an AMD guy said that made sence. However, before Nvidia bought Physix, Ageia's still did not work with ATI. It was not because of the video card war, rather it was because ATI was working on their own (name started with an H, goes back a few years so dont remember it). The game developers are the ones that went with the PhysiX rather than ATI's version, for reasons I do not know...perhaps Ageia's was better? That is speculation of course. All I know is the i5's price vs. Performance, AMD is dead if they don't do something quick...and as an Intel user, I DO NOT WANT AMD to die because then Intel can do what it has always dreamed of...rape every PC user and charge $500 on "budget" processors and sell mid levels for what the extremes currently go for! THAT WOULD SUCK
Anyways, which 8800GT is it, I know the 8800GTS models were good, but some of the GT's were not. It is possible that card is a first generation and not a "improved" model. I even noticed the 320MB was faster than the 500MB and the 640MB, etc, something to do with the memory modules on them.
Updating Physix is not going to resolve it. I am going to get the game so I can look at what has changed on the engine. Maybe I can figure out a solution as modding either windows core or the game engine itself to run on peoples dinosaur computers is what I do (not that I am calling your computer that lol). One thing, disable any motion blur, bloom, and particle effects, post effects, those are killers. Smoke is bad too as that is a Physix effect. The 8800's took a dump when Post Effects and Particle Effects were introduced...which was never really resolved untill the GTX 260 and up cards. Looks like game developers are in kahoots with Nvidia? ROFL
PS Don't feel too bad, a buddy of mine has a Sapphire 4870X2 and my GTX260 at 35% the cost murders his card. Another buddy of mine has an ASUS 7600GT TOP (256MB) that out preforms it in Demigod by 20FPS, now that is serious ATI chunk blowing...not to mention the 90C temp...which after my air cooling mod brought down to 50C! | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 (Build 7068) All times are GMT -5.
