    Sidewinder joystick and w7

    Hello

Can I get my now old joystick [sidewinder force feedback 2] to work in W7 with games like arma 2 or IL-2. I also have a FLIGHTSTIK one too.

If not what would be a good joystik to get as a replacement.

    Thanks and regards

The stick works (somewhat) with Windows 7... Say It's not so.. (Sidewinder) however the games supporting the stick may be problematic. Example... on FreeSpace 2 some buttons didn't work correctly.

Anyway it's a crap shoot whether it'll work 100 percent correctly.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Sygnus
It's a usb version so I connected it up and it calibrates and gives me some force feedback when playing ms flight.
In arma it looks like I'll have to set all the buttons up first which I hope it will retain.
I was able to fly with basic controls eg elevators, ailerons guns and top hat; rudder and throttle didn't seem to be assigned along with the other buttons but they did work off KB.

I have read on google that some pc's will have the joystick work fine while others not and some will lose all the controls once set if you drop to desktop from game.
Mine just presently seems to be ok.

    Regards

Yeah I have one so I know it's USB.

Don't know where that's coming from since the stick has basic functionality under Windows 7. That said, it all comes down to the game(s) and how they perform under Windows 7. That in turn may affect the stick's functionality.

As I noted the stick doesn't seem to function correctly under FreeSpace, most notably, forward and reverse movement are backwards when using the stick. Some weapons buttons don't work as well. Like I said, depends on the game. I'm sure some ini tweaks might fix it, but I'm not into the game at this point in time so.

    Anyway good luck.
