    PC Gaming vs Console Gaming

Hello everyone,This post is about which platform is the least coastliest way of Gaming

you have xbox360 Ps3 PsP Wii Etc............

I basicly got into a bitter war in a gamming chat over the benefits of pc gaming over console and not to many console gamers could come up with a valid proof that Pc gaming is way more expensive then buying a console paying $50 per game not to mention controlers downloadble content that you have to buy also even if you have dsl or cable you would stil have to pay a fee to online game on any system besides pc

The argument i recieved is i have to update my gpu every year and the games that will be new in 3 years wouldnt work on my gpu

to me that statement wasa joke because 5 games for a console would pay for a kick ass gpu but if your conservitive you could get a gpu for atleast for what they paid for 3 games

Please console gamer and Pc games give me you're thoughts it is time for DEBATE!

Let me start by saying I own both a PC and Xbox so I honestly don't care what conclusion people come to because either way I win.

Console, hands down. Not doubt about that at all.

Most new games for my 360 will cost me £45 tops. New PC games retail will be much cheaper, but since I buy on Steam they still tend to be £35 or above. Specially for the likes of Battlefield and CoD. So there's not much difference there.

Same argument for controllers could be made about mouse and keyboard. Some people like to get stupidly fancy mouse and keyboard set ups that cost a ton.

I think the only system that charges for online play is 360. To be fair you get a far better service than the other consoles. Patches and updates being an example. Nearly always small files on 360 but huge downloads on PS3.

Well you don't have to do that. A good GPU could last you three years. Yeah, it won't be top end but it will still run pretty good. Plus Consoles try to get like a 10 year life span. A game on on both consoles and PC will probably look better on the 3 year old GPU than the 3 year old console.

It's really a case of each to their own. I've said in other threads I use my systems for different things. My 360 is what I use for DVD play, big MP games that I want to play with friends, exclusives and FIFA type games that don't benefit from PC. I use the PC for exclusives, games that have MP but I don't care about and want a better SP experience with all the optional extras.

@klyehimself You couldn't be more right cheers to you

Atleast i can see how sensability would come into play with what you're saying i wish people could come up with a valid point like you well waiting and seeing to geto more info on this topic

personally i don't mind playing 360 or any other gaming system i grew up that way but to just simply to tell me in conversational chats that pc gaming is dead are off thiere rocker ! that is the whole reason why i started this i switch from console gaming to pc cause it obviously was more atractive to me plus i figure if you're going to use a mini version of a pc like dvd games chatting on line buying all the periphials why not just invest in a good pc ......

Yeah, people who say PC gaming is dead don't seem to have a clue. As far as I know Valve constantly report that Steam is forever growing. I think the big boost in consoles isn't so much people jumping over from PC but just more people gaming in general. Both platforms will continue to grow. PC aint going anywhere.

i might also add that Microsoft i(who hasnt released a PC game in 3 years) is advocating for developing pc games now and has 3 games to come out soon.

    I wouldn't say every year but ...

With a PC, a GPU upgrade and your good to go.

A console .... You just have to buy the new next Gen Console.

IMHO, PC is the way to go.

Mostly because all they are capable of doing (other than Gaming)

Plus, as far as gaming goes, a PC can be a much more powerful than any console.
    And, easily upgraded.

Then, you've also got the aspect of Modding Games (look at FO3 and Oblivion for example)

Pcs are just a lot better IMHO, especially if you are only choosing 1 or the other.

Consoles are less costly...but they offer less options, more simplistic gameplay, less modifications and often graphics that are a bit lacking.

I'm not sure how you can say that a kick butt gaming card is "only" the same price as 5 console games. You gotta buy those PC games too. Sure, maybe they are $10 cheaper at launch (or in the case of StarCraft 2, the same price).

depends on how much gameing you do, the 10$ extra per game does add up. 10 games is already $100 more then 10 pc games.

and activision is just being greedy by always tacking on the $10 now.
