Games crashing to desktop without warning or hiccups

This is a recently developed problem, as I've been playing Saints row the third and skyrim the game crashes after about 30 min. Not every time though. like 1 out of 3 times I play. The game will be working great (no lag or drop in frame rate) and it just up and closes to the desktop. No crash report or any other form of notification of what happened.

I looked at the event viewer and I wasn't sure where to look in it but I looked in windows logs->applications and I found this error around the time of one of the crashes:

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

If anyone knows what may be causing this or where I SHOULD be looking in the event viewer, please respond.

I'm new to this forum but I entered all of my pc info on my profile so I think you would be able to view it there...thanks

I found this, perhaps this may help solve your problem.?

Event Id 10: Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x800

If not, is always a good idea to check your temps (fire is the devil's best friend ), make sure fans are seated and/or plugged correctly, and while you are at it... it wouldn't hurt to update your Video and Audio drivers (from the Manufacturer and NOT from Windows Update).

If your drivers are up to date, the next most logical question is: did these games start this after an update/patch? A game I was playing recently started crashing to the desktop with no dialog at all, no error codes, nothing. It was after an update. After not finding a solution, I uninstalled the game, and spent the time reinstalling and it fixed the problem immediately. Not one crash at all since the re-installation. Probably the easiest way to fix such a problem if you don't mind a few hours of installation.
