How do you get Diablo 2 in full screen mode?

I have the hard copy of Lord of Destruction but I decided it best to download it from blizzard.net (or battle.net, i'm not sure, it's irrelevant) because I thought it might run more smoothly on Windows 7 Home Premium 64. For whatever reason though, it won't run in full screen mode. The game has an inch or so of black bars on the left and right side of it. They appear from the intro (the Blizzard logo), to the main menu and into game play? What can I do about this? Please and thank you!

You need to download and install the Diablo 2 High Resolution Mod.

The downloaded "patch" consists of 4 files:

    D2MultiRes.txt
    D2MultiResGame.exe
    D2MultiRes.dll
    D2MultiRes.mpq

Copy D2MultiResGame.exe, D2MultiRes.dll and D2MultiRes.mpq to your Diablo II directory. Run D2VidTst.exe (found in your Diablo II directory) and choose the DirectDraw option.

To run, start D2MultiResGame.exe. Diablo II will start in the standard resolution, when playing a game you will be able to switch to a new, higher resolution. To do so, go to the Video Options menu and select the Resolution menu item. This will bring up a new panel that will list your available resolutions. Click the one you wish to play in and Diablo II will switch to that resolution.

You copied a lot of what they have posted, and it states there are some kinks at least that's the impression I got. Do you know for a fact this will make it full screen? It doesn't really state that anywhere. Also, it says it's unofficial and "It is, for the most part, completed, but there are still a few issues that have not been worked out."

LoD runs just fine under se7en...as does DII.
I just checked...I don't have any black bars. Then again I have a 4:3 Monitor...if you have a 16:9 you probably have to live with it.
try to change the screen resolution under options Video options.

    Good luck

In order to get Diablo II to run at a res higher then 800x600 you have to use a mod, yes Diablo II runs just fine on 7, the issues he is talking about are known with the res mod itself, not Diablo.

I have a lot of games...old and new but I never have to adjust video more than once...that's why games usually have some sort of .ini files.
I didn't even know about a hires mode for such an old game...but then again I don't need it

What do you mean by other games? This mod only works for Diablo II. All you do is run the D2MultiResGame.exe instead of the normal Diablo 2 exe.

You mentioned you do it every week or so. You have to continually reapeat this? Is it a permanent fix? Or did you mean you play D2 at least once a week?
