    diablo 2 direct draw failure

Hi, I've had a problem staring up diablo 2. When I do I get a error 22 (direct draw failed to initialize). I've tried this in every compatibility mode and with all other compatibility settings such as 256 colour mode. Windows XP mode gives the same error. Diablo's video tester informs me that no compatible video modes are available (directdraw, direct3d and 3dfxglide). A friend of mine is having the same issue on a different system. My system is in my profile if that helps.

Any solutions for this out there?

Did you install the lastest Directx updates? Just because WIndows 7 have Directx 11 doesn't mean it has full lists of libraries for the other Directx versions

What Directx does Diablo II need...I will give you a link to what you need

    Most people don't...

I didn't myself until I ran PCSX2 (PS2 emulator) and realized that I still needed Directx 9.0c installed. The libraries for older versions are mostly compatibility that are included in Directx 11...this suffices in most cases.

Download and run the web installer...hopefully it should work after this

Did you re-run the Video Test in Diablo II?

Also do you have the latest drivers for you video card?

    Okay...

Have you registered you battle.net details within Diablo? Have you also updated Diablo to the latest patch? The latest patch allows it to run without a CD which may be the issue here (from what I gathered from reading troubleshooting posts from other forums)
