Best alternative to keyboard/mouse when couch gaming?

I Have my computer hooked up to my TV, and lately I've been using a Logitech K400 keyboard with built in trackpad. However, this setup is definitely not ideal for any gaming. A gamepad is a good alternative, but I don't think all games map well to useing gamepads.

Any of you game with your computer hooked up to the tv? what do you use?

    thanks.

if your doing it that way, try using a wireless mouse as well, something like the logitech one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003U5SOJ...hvptwo=&hvqmt=,

failing that get USB extension cables and run usb devices

I would love to do this as well but have not found any good kb/mouse trays to be able to do this. Having the KB on my legs is just not good enough and I hate gamepads... amazing how nobody has invented a gadget for this yet!

I use the K700 but I also need a mouse and a good place to put it in order to get my fix

My partner just uses a large lap tray, the sort with the cushion underneath, she says its feels no less comfy than sitting at a desk

for gaming i'd consider getting an xbox 360 controller, you can get wireless gaming receivers built for any Microsoft wireless peripherals and they don't need to be mapped in most games because any game with this logo on it will work>

and chances are that most other games that don't have the logo will work too as long as the xbox 360 controller logo is on the back of the game, for example, need for speed hot pursuit isn't games for windows but the xbox 360 controller works with it out the box.

Lap tray w/cushion underneath? I have not research this much but I will right now. The K700 is small enough for warfare add a good wireless mouse and we are set to go hunting baddies!
