Minecraft MASSIVE lag spike

Hello, I recently got a new Pc the Asus G75 to be exact but every one and a while Minecraft will MASSIVELY lag. This shouldn't be happening on a gaming laptop like this does anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks,

Maybe you have too many things started up eating cpu cycles. Do you have many programs open in the background when starting your laptop?

The startup programs I have are AVG 2013, Razer Snypse, Steam, Razer Nostromo configurator, Nvidia control pannel and snaptics pointing device. Doesn't seem like it would make it lag spike that bad.
