I'm hoping this is the right section because this problem has me pulling my f**king hair out.
I first noticed it when trying the mechwarrior online beta; every time I start the main menu, enter a game, exit a game or close the starting menu windows resets my gamma/brightness to pre-calibrated garbage. Now it's also doing it with Aion, a game from NCsoft.
Every single time this happens I have to go to either nvidia settings or calibration settings and the second I touch the sliders it goes back to normal. When I go back into the game it screws it up again. I've been scouring the internet for the last 4 hours and many people are experiencing the exact same problem, but literally *none* of their posts are solved.
Now let's go over the things I've already tried:
I've tried using Nvidia control panel as the default colour manager but it also gets overridden.
I've tried multiple calibrations and adjusting the monitor's settings to see how much less garbagey I could make the "default" look, but it still looks like garbage.
I've tried going into the advanced colour settings and changing the default to my preferred calibrations- (that did sweet f**k all)
I've updated my graphics card drivers
I've tried adjusting the in-game settings and even the 'out-of-game' configs for the games.
I've tried telling nvidia to force certain settings to no avail. Alternatively I've tried turning the nvidia colour settings off.
I've tried going into the registry, finding the games interpretation of my system and deleting it, (forcing it to redo them).
I've tried running the games in windows, fullscreen and fullscreen windows.
I've tried turning off "use windows calibration" in the colour settings.
And finally I've tried yelling at it.
This problem is seemingly limited to windows 7 and is breaking my balls. Please, for the love of Zeus, tell me where windows hides its "'default' default" colour settings so that I may find and kill them. Or maybe someone has a lightweight program that will refresh my gamma settings when I exit games?
