hi i'm playing skyrim and trying to join the mages college in winterhold, i talked faralda whose standing guard at bridge. so she gives her little speech to me, and says i'm ok i can go on up. so after that goes well i go up to the gates of the college and it says that i need a key to get in. but she didn't give me one. and i don't where else to go. any help would be great

she will guide you in and get to speak to mirabelle, just follow faralda upto the college entrance and she'll open the gate for you, i'll try and find a video for it and it will show you how to get to that stage

You need to listen to faralda as she will ask you to do something magical, it could be anything, if she requests a flame atronach then she'll sell you the spell tome, then you need to navigate to the menu list (map, items, magic, skills) then navigate to items and read the tome, this will unlock the spell in the magic menu, go to the magic menu and choose the spell and use the attack button depending on which hand it defaults to (usually the left) so press and hold the left mouse button, aim it to the right of faralda and she will say well done and guide you into the college.
