The game gets a bit repetitive but I gotta admit, it is fun to tackle it and the view is not bad at all... my little pet peeve is the fact that they called it Far Cry and that this is more of an Adventure game than a Shooter... very fun nonetheless.

I think the general idea is to assault camps differently, I switched between stealth and just lobbing as many explosives as possible down range. It really isn't that different from far cry 2 in it's general format. It is also just like far cry and far cry 2, in that it has absolutely nothing to do with either of the games that came before it.
Sniping is what I love, perhaps because I suck at close quarter combats (when I get anxious, I tend to hit the wrong keys even if my fingers are already on it! ) sio basically what I do is... I approach the camp from a hill, get the camera so I know where most of them are, I start sniping the snipers first, wait for the HEAVIES to turn around and snipe them as well, rinse and repeat with the CHARGERS and other baddies. Or, I like this one too... they usually have a caged animal so I snipe the cage and let it run a mock and this is when all hell brakes loose because they are not alerted to my shooting. Other times I just let them have it with the GL90

Crytek, IMO, intended for the Far Cry game to be mostly an open world shooter with some rare creatures to boot and not an adventure/repetitive/go pick up flowers with the sporadic shooting... that's what I meant. I do enjoy the scenery though, at least much better than the Desert Savannah of FC2 with 1 animal every 100 miles (and yes... of course I am exaggerating! mostly for effect! )

That's apparently sound track music from the game as well.
Release date for it is still flaky but I've been waiting for a good space game that actually made use of modern graphics for awhile.

Actually that bug was patched, in one of the first patches.
Is he playing a legitimate copy?
This should only be happening if he doesn't have the updates, and the only way that should be happening is if he isn't using uplay.

He turned uplay off (offline only) as he only does single player and usually UBI patches ruin more than they fix. Yes, I went to read up about it and it seems like patch 1.02 fixed the issue.

Do the patches need to be install 1 by 1 or patch 1.04 has everything? Also, do the patches crap on your saves?

    Thanks

(yes, I know it's a week old quote)
Yeah, it feels more repetitive than the first did, but from what I've played of it and the second (and a ridiculous amount of the first) FC3 seems a lot more of a spiritual successor to Far Cry than FC2 was. I'd like to say that it's not just because it's set on an island, but I fear that may be all that's influencing that thought
