GTA IV strange audio problem - no sound except for ingame TV programme
Dear All, I'm experiencing a strange sound problem in GTA IV I purchased through Steam. The game runs properly and there is no sound problem after starting the game. One or two minutes into the gameplay however there's a tumping sound (when you put a jack of a headset to an MP3 player for example) and the sound cuts out. Strangely if I turn on the in game TV the sound of the TV programme can be heard perfectly. I don't have sound problems with any other softwares, but GTA IV. I've opened a ticket with Rockstar Games and they advised that there's a kernelbase.dll problem, based on the msinfo32 log:

Rockstar advised to take these steps, which I did:
-Run Microsoft's OS "Fix-It" program (Fix Windows system performance problems on slow Windows computers)
-Run a Free Registry cleaner such as: CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
-Re-install the game from a new administrative user (Start > Control Panel > Users).
I've also tried the Vista compatibility mode and running the game as administrator as advised by threads on the Internet.
Unfortunately the problem is still there.
Please help if you can, thank you in advance!
