    steam issue in win7

Steam has been running with no issues throughout the whole of the beta programme and now I have retail copy of steam it decides to mess up.

A message came up saying that Windows needed to put steam into compatibility mode. When I ran steam it didnt like it and refused to run.

How can I reset this compatibility mode and prevent windows from setting it again in the future?

Found the fix here: Fix: Steam thinks its running in compatibility mode
Ive also disabled the program compatibility assistant so it doesnt do this again. Now to reinstall 124 games, sigh

Possibly. So disable PCA when you get Win7.

Only issue I had was with counter-strike source really - every time i started it up it crashed saying hl2.exe has stopped responding. If I ran it in window mode and then in windowmode set it to fullscreen it worked fine, but I had to do this for every time I started it. Haven't had time to look for a more permanent fix, but I'll try this at least and see if this has any effect.

Im guessing that I'm one of the lucky ones, I have installed steam countless times on my RTM copy with no problems along with loading different games and running them. From what I have been seeing here in the forums helping people there have been some drivers that cause strange issues but we all hope that with the release in a few weeks this wont be an issue. There also might be an update to windows for PCA I remember reading something about a Windows Update item for this for RC looks like I might have to go digging.
