Screen goes black on Steam/Spotify?

First things first, if I'm in the wrong area of the forum, please move this thread elsewhere. I just figured it belonged in the crashes section since that's all it keeps doing right now.

Any way, pretty simple here; when I load up Steam and sometimes Spotify (for this program, it only happened once) my screen will monitors will change to go completely black and from there, they won't go back to normal. In stead, I have to force my computer to shut down and re-boot it back up. It most notably happens on Steam when I go to click a certain game type, and when I'm in the section where the videos are at, it'll change. It used to do it when I would view videos in that section too.

Now, a couple days ago (I can't find the Google search in my history right now), I did something to make it stop in the power settings. I ended up changing my screen time to 600 minutes so it never did that, but clearly that didn't seem to of stopped the program.

So far it hasn't happened on games, but it does do it randomly. I asked my friend and he said it could be my flash settings, but I checked all those and everything is up to date. I even downloaded the most recent update for NVDIA as well.
