anybody had any luck with Dungeon Siege1?

still haven't found a way to get this old XP title running..
it did have some problems with a CRC check under Vista,
but MS eventually got round to issuing a fix for it..

    - has anyone managed to get it running under W7(64-Bit) yet..??

    - the game is the DungeonSiege/Legends of Aranna pack..

I have installed it and it starts, but Menus are lagging like Hell and InGame the Colors are messed up and its unplayable...

Ok, there is a fix! You have to go to Start->Programs->DungeonSiege->Errorbla(don't know it in english sry)->DSVC
And then select one WITHOUT TnL!
    This fixed it for me!

    - eek!!
    - no-CD patches are a no-no..!!

    - done the Hardware TnL thing via DSVC, checked the ini.files all show it..
    - I've managed to get DSLOA running, but it breaks down during gameplay
    - cursor drags across the screen and the gfx are messed up
    - even with all the W7 Aero stuff switched off..

    - there's gotta be an extra fix I missed somewhere along the way..
    - 'cos I'm only a gnat's whisker away from a playable game..

could be the nature of the beast, given the fact you're trying to run quite the old DS title under a 64bit OS.
I know sometimes some games around here work on 64bit and don't work that well on the 32bit and vice versa (in your case).
Did you try looking around the net for your exact case? or try the GPG site? (assuming it's still there haven't checked to see if they've Gone under yet.)

Oh yes, I agree - there are a great many older and more "quirky" games out there

Silverfall is another one that's still on the Not Working list for me..
I really like that game - it has a strange character all of it's own..
I was hoping that I would get more out of it now that I'm running
64-bit with 6G RAM, I thoroughly enjoyed playing it in WindowsXP..

With DS, there's still a hardcore of fans using the engine for modelling
as well as making new mods and things

    - I've heard that a no-CD crack will make it run, but it just doesn't seem right to go down that route..
    - I'm just surprised that someone hasn't found a way to get the thing adapted, yet
    - as it's a classic game, and really deserves a wider audience, especially in 64-bit Windows 7

It might run normally once again come 22nd of oct when the real Win7 hits and the full version of the Virtual Machine is on it.
Then you could just run like Win98 and have no problems running it.

    hey, that's worth knowing..

    - tried the 64-bit version of the VirtualXP thing a while back
    - works OK, it got a bit fussy with drivers, though..

    - might give that a try in about a week or two
    - all being well..
