Saving games in Dragon Age II not working. Gidday,
I am having problems saving games in Dragon Age II. Every time I save the game it works, then when i quit to the main menu the load game button doesn't change from grey to gold.
Does anyone know a way to fix this? The game works perfectly until it saves.
Cheers. | My System Specs |

Hi, haven't played Dragon Age II in ages but can you post a screen shot to show what you're talking about. Also, are you logged into your EA/Origin account? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz) OC to 3.8GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 1, F6 Bios Memory 12 gig Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT Memory (3X 4GB) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6950 2gig (Sapphire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays HP ZR22w 22" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Wave Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU Antec Signature - SG-850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Hard Drives Primary - OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB). Yes I am, it keeps asking me to log in the first time I start up the game. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard OS Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) Memory 4096MB RAM Graphics Card Radeon ATI HD4870 Monitor(s) Displays NVIDIA GeForce GT220 Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 |

Yeah I get that annoying error too; I thought it was just me, glad to see I'm not the only one who gets it. BTW I asked EA about that issue about a year ago, but never got a straight answer. I guess they don't plan on fixing it. I think it has something to do with the conversion to Origin, but that's just my guess.
Anyway do/did you have any mods or DLC installed, and then removed them? If so, be aware that certain saves won't come up if it included a DLC or mod that's now missing.
The other thing is to make sure you log in to register the game if you're reinstalled it. I just tried my game after I saw your post to see what's going on and it did hound me that I had to have my DLC installed before it would let me use the latest save so... Outside of that, I'm not sure what's going on.
I have to ask, is this a retail game? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz) OC to 3.8GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 1, F6 Bios Memory 12 gig Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT Memory (3X 4GB) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6950 2gig (Sapphire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays HP ZR22w 22" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Wave Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU Antec Signature - SG-850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Hard Drives Primary - OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB). The game is a retail version, just uninstalled it because I think the problem is with Direct X. I don't have any DLC's installed either, but I'll see what happens when I run it through Origin when it finishes installing. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard OS Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) Memory 4096MB RAM Graphics Card Radeon ATI HD4870 Monitor(s) Displays NVIDIA GeForce GT220 Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 |

I'm reinstalling my game now, so let me see what happens... Edit -Game installed no issues, however I had to at least log in once to get my DLC going, and thus my last saved games...
BTW I'm 99.999 percent certain your save issue hasn't anything to do with DirectX as DirectX will only affect game performance, not save game issues. Also, the game is only DX11 if you install the Hi-res texture pack, if not, it's only DX9.

Thanks for letting me know about DX, but I have a small thought that the reason is because of the expansion that it came with. I'll be redeeming it on the weekend, so lets see what happens then. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard OS Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) Memory 4096MB RAM Graphics Card Radeon ATI HD4870 Monitor(s) Displays NVIDIA GeForce GT220 Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 |

The original version of the game comes with the Black Emporium DLC, so like I said, i'll be redeeming it on the weekend. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard OS Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) Memory 4096MB RAM Graphics Card Radeon ATI HD4870 Monitor(s) Displays NVIDIA GeForce GT220 Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Saving games in Dragon Age II not working. problems?
