Periodic performance drop for most video games, out of options.

    Defragmentation tool has always been there in all Windows OS and probably still there for if someone does a lot of file transfers, moving around. Of course Windows can get fragmented but nowhere near the extent it used to do in previous OS's.But personally i have only just recently done a format/reinstall on my own system and before i did i checked how bad fragmentation was on both my primary and secondary HDD's and both were 1 - 3% fragmented. And that is after almost 2 years of usage. I don't even have anything set on my system to auto defrag either.

    Basically all i was saying was it isn't really necessary these days and even more so with SSD's. God forbid if someone would use Windows defrag on an SSD...

    Sorry for the late reply, busy with some stuff.

    Anyway I think it actually happens after a certain number of system restarts rather than a number of days, a day after the problem went away I tried installing Ubuntu (it sucks by the way) and had to restart the PC several times, and the problem was back again.

    Someone suggested a power issue. What's your take on that?
